I have a mermaid and when he swims his tail is invisible. And and one point he started swimming through the ground. He could not interact with any of the objects but would just swim through everythin...

Unrelated to the new patch because I've had this happen before. No mods or CC currently in use and updated for latest patch.
I think this was caused by the sim autonomously going to sit in the boat that was not in use/on land as seen in the first image. After getting off the boat, transformed back into a mermaid and swam around in the sand, went into the house and walked on tail.
