[LD] Sims watch only static TV/Multiple Ediths spawn

P.S. Immediately after writing the comment, it happened again.

This started happening for me after the May 12th update. My Sims constantly watch static on the TV. Sometimes they interrupt their current actions just to go watch the static. I keep running into terrified Sims or Sims who have fainted.

I opened a small business today using the "bar" preset. The customers came to watch TV, and they turned on the static channel. Edith showed up (half-glitching to look like a spider demon), and my customers had bladder failures and/or passed out. However, this lot does not have any lot traits, which means the static channel shouldn't be available. My sim, the business owner, cannot choose to watch the static channel unless a customer is actively watching it.

This also isn't a case of Edith showing up of her own free will, because only YA and older can enter the business.

Screenshots were taken on two different in-game days, but the only thing I changed about the lot from Thursday to Friday is buying a barbecue.

This save is my never-modded save, aka the save I use while I wait for it to be safe to re-enable mods and cc. I can be 100% certain that mods are not causing this issue. My game is updated to the latest patch.

P.S. If there is more than one TV on the lot, and different sims watch the static channel on different televisions, is there supposed to be more than one Edith?

There are currently two of Edith. One has begun to throw a tantrum. Neither is a spider demon right now.

I have a second Edith (always with random last names, can't you give her and Alice an actual last name that is hidden when interacting with them in game if you give them last names in the manage household screen?)

This second Edith must have made her entrance when I had sims in a club gathering Watch TV, and they all decided static was the way to go.

Is this, generating more than one Edith, as intended or bug?

I had to remove it and change to watch movies instead because all the sims in the gathering choose to watch static. I would turn of the tv and they would turn it back on to static, they never chose anything else. 

It is a cool thing to have Edith appear, but it should be more rare for sims to autonomously turn on static when watching tv.

I would be cooler if there were a risk for static to play when the tv break, so she shows up then. (But leave some actual time for sims to turn it off, so to then be able to repair it).

My sims turned on the static channel for whatever reason, and Edith came out, as expected. What I did not expect was for there to be more than one of her and for her to look so deranged. I've never actually caught her in the act of coming out of the TV, so maybe this is normal and part of the freakiness, but figured I'd report it if it is a bug. There were 3 Ediths before I took this screenshot. The first looked all deformed like the one in back in the included picture, but she disappeared into the floor.

Updating: "Sort of works" is the operative phrase. It does not always work. On some Bar lots it's works most of the time. That is mostly no Edith despite Sims watching Static TV. But, it doesn't work all the time or at all on other Bar lots. 🤷‍♀️

Ok. A sort of workaround for the Edith spawning seems to be to place table top TVs in such a way that there is no space in front for Edith to spawn. I've tried this in three Bars (Bars need TVs). Sims still autonomously watch the Static channel but, so far, no Edith. 🤞

This is the Ye Olde Voyager Bar that came with R&L. The table is angled, the TV is angled to the table and the chairs are blocking the front of the table. 

I haven't found a way to block wall mounted TVs. There always seems to be some space she can spawn in. I haven't been using MOO.

I haven't tested this extensively. It may not work in all situations. 

Sent my Sim to get a tattoo. In the time he was there the game generated 5 Ediths. He never did get his tattoo. 

Made a singing competition in adventure awaits and guess what. Everyone is constantly peeing themselves or is collapsed on the floor and soon as they get up they rush to the tv to watch static again. Edith keeps spawing on the lot every 5 seconds and no matter how much I try to turn the TV off the sims are just OBSESSED with the static.

I recently had Edith appear in my world even though my Sim had never met her.
My active Sim constantly performs the autonomous action “Watch Noise” on the TV. At the same time, Edith appears inside the room on her own.

Honestly, it feels like real horror.

As a temporary workaround, I added Edith to my household and removed her through CAS. However, my Sim continued to autonomously “Watch Noise,” so I ended up removing the TV entirely.

This issue started after the latest update, in a household living on Crumbling Isle in Windenburg.
I do not want any occult Sims involved in this save, so this situation is very disruptive and frustrating.
