Leaves become transparent (Laptop mode)

So for the last week or so I've had an issue with some BB and world decor plants not appearing (those in world have a very obvious shadow where they should be but the plant itself is nowhere to be seen), as well as some of the gardening plants not appearing unless I hovered my mouse over them then a ghostly image of them would appear.

Last night I uninstalled mods (again) and started a new game and it appears that if I have a Sim living in a world/neighbourhood (not sure which I'll have to experiment then the BB/decor plants don't seem to appear, but if I have no active household then everything goes back to normal!

I'm not sure if this is the same for gardening plants, some of them just don't appear to exist unless you hover over them.  I've only just noticed this with plants in the wild, I've not had a Sim try gardening on their lot to see if the problem persists.  I've attached an image of a soy plant across from the house where my new Sim lives to show what I'm meaning.  There's no pattern to the non-appearing plants, some flower, fruit, veg and herb plants appear others don't.

I recently had a similar problem with some BB items not showing up but switched to DX11 and not had any problems in that regard since, is this a known bug related to that issue or is this something else entirely?

    Thank you for confirming.

It's a known bug for laptop mode.

Good to know.  Odd that I've never had this issue before, so guessing it might've been one of the recent updates that triggered it maybe?

Guess its a case of wait and see if/when it gets corrected.

  • Having this problem right now (yeah, laptop). I was at the fair in the Cottage Living world and it started to rain, so I went back to my sims' home in Chestnut Ridge (the largest lot), and it was raining there too and the leaves in the plants (decor from the build section and the ones I grew) inside the lot were naked (also some of the ones in the world). It was also the last day of Summer. If I zoom out, the leaves on the decor trees are visible, but the ones I grew remain naked. The only unaffected plant was the carrots, for some reason. Here's a list:

    Affected cultivated plants:

    • Peas (indoors, one of them share a planter with the carrots)
    • Strawberry (indoors)
    • Apple tree (indoors)
    • Tomato (outdoors)
    • Blueberry (outdoors)
    • Chocoberry (outdoors)
    • Blackberry (outdoors)
    • Avocado (outdoors)
    • Lemon (outdoors)

    Affected outdoor trees:

    • Mesquite Tree
    • Hawthorne Tree

The trees in the world that lost their leaves seem to be sized up versions of the Mesquite Tree.

Disabling Laptop Mode solved the problem.
