Many features not working??

As I'm playing my game after the update (July 1st), I noticed some features aren't working as they should be. I can't seem to put the Elements into the display AT ALL; and for some reason I can't drag dishes and such into the sink or trash cans whatsoever. I need to know I'm not the only one here, and if I am, this sucks so much. Can someone please tell me if I'm going crazy, or if it's a glitch from the recent update?
