No Promotions. Getting Raises instead

I was playing with my family and the sim I was using would reach a certain level in their career and would stop getting promoted. They kept getting raises but not promoted. My sim was on level 7 or 8 in business with +12 raises. When I try to cheat and manually promote her the game freezes and won't even let me save. It's making it hard to play when I'm scared my game won't save and my sim can't advance:(

Update: I think my sim is max level in their career but when I hover over it, it says they are level 8 in the career so I am just a bit confused.

I am having this problem as well and I am sure it is a problem due to the update as I did not have this problem before. This sim hasn't been employed in a while because he doesn't have to work, but I got the job because I want the furniture rewards from it. Other households have been working more consistently and switching jobs as soon as they hit max in one career as I wanted some rewards and was working on some aspirations for them. This issue is definitely new and not just you. I wasn't really paying attention to it much until I decided it was time to move him on to something else and then I noticed he was like +18 in his current position for raises but still only level 8 in the career. So, it is not that promotions have not happened, they just are not progressing beyond a certain point. He was in the tech guru start up career and I got fed up and quit him that and now he is in the criminal career. I need to see if his progression in it stalls like it did in the other one. Maybe they made it harder to max out careers with the update, in which case that would be fine. But if this isn't how it should be going, then Houston, we have a problem.
Edit 07-14-25 His career is stalled at level 8 in the criminal boss career. He is max skill level in everything already and I am making sure work tasks are completed and that he is working hard when he goes to work but so far, no promotion. It has only been a few sim days so I will check back in if nothing happens by end of day today.

I was watching sims influencer onlyabidoang and he replicated this issue when the sim had the entrepreneurial trait. So, maybe it's in the code regarding such?

My sim has had that trait for a long time and it was never an issue until now. I think it started with the update, but I wouldn't swear on anything because strange things just start happening in my game even when there has been no update.

My sim had that trait before and it wasn't an issue until the update. I actually even got rid of it to see if it would do anything and it did not. Maybe because I did not restart my game to see, but initially removing it and went to work and it had no affect. I was still unfortunately having the same issue.
