Hello,
I have For Rent, but don't use the apartment lots due to so many bugs. So, I am playing a couple of single Sims I created in San Myshuno.
After some time my male Sim asked his girlfriend to move in with him. Not long after, they moved into another apartment I spent quite a bit of time creating for them. Tonight, he proposed to her... just a few moments ago in fact. It was during an intimate evening in their new home in an apartment in San Myshuno and this townie shows up out of no where and starts joining their moment by waving and standing there watching. Totally ruined the whole moment!
This townie was NOT invited, the doors were locked. I even have the door set to stop solicitation and vampires. None of this apparently works any more. I even noticed when my sims were sleeping in their apartments that random townies will just walk or run through walls into these apartments and vanish out of walls again on the other side of the apartment. And they're not even ghosts. But sure do act like one.
I tried to use the testing cheats to remove this townie as there is no option to ask to leave. Epic fail there. I even tried moving my sims from that lot to another lot altogether and then back again to reset things that way and that stupid townie is still there! I did all of these plus removed all Caches to no avail. So.... now this story is shot.
I put a lot of thought in creating that home for them and building up their story and now they can't even live in that apartment or have the story line I created thanks to this new expansion pack which I don't even own and all the crappy updates is making our games worse than ever before.
Additionally I don't use any mods either. So, this is ALL on EA.
And as for wanting to buy this new expansion they can forget it!!!! It is already causing more problems than it is worth to our games and some of us don't even own them. What a mess!
Sorry Crinrict for "double Posting", the only thread I saw of this subject was from a year ago. I didn't want this recent entry to get "lost in the shuffle."
An update: After I posted on here about this experience, I repaired my game and then went back in to see if that made any difference but it didn't and the option to "Ask to Leave" was still greyed out. But... since I moved my Sims back into that apartment from previous attempts to get rid of that townie, I saved the game to where they were still standing in the hallway. I finally had the option to "Call Over" that townie stuck in the apartment. It took that townie a minuet or two as that townie just stood their laughing, but she did leave the apartment to venture into the hallway. I then quickly had my sims re-enter the apartment and had the door locked option set for "Everyone" to see if that would work.
When I had my one sim go to the kitchen and the other sim go to use the bathroom, I actually saw where the townies were entering in as now another one entered in by way of their bedroom that was not "attached" to an inner wall, it was an outside wall and still this townie enters in and goes into the kitchen and started spinning in circles like a record player. I had my sim that was in the kitchen go out to the hallway and call out that sim like I did with the other one, but this one would not leave, it just stood there spinning around. I exited back out of the game, saving progress as I didn't want to risk that other townie being stuck in there again with no options like before. When I entered back in, that second townie was standing out in the hall by my sim. So I had my sim reenter into the apartment and saved.
I now have them moved to a penthouse that is what I thought to function like a single-household, private residence (hoping I could get on with my game without any more of this issue. Yet, when I selected my sim to sit and watch tv with his fiancé, I saw a third sim show up that could be selected to join. I freaked out at first wondering how this could be. I searched around thoroughly to make sure there wasn't any guest, or another stuck townie, as I had set the residence to be a "private dwelling" for extra measure. Thankfully I saw no one on the grounds but my two Sims.
This game is really getting wacky and hard to play.
