Maybe a silly question, but do you have Seasons? Plants, including build mode plants, have seasonal appearance (e.g. blooming in summer, dormant bush in winter)

I've noticed this in my vanilla base game save. They don't all appear brown, but sometimes despite being watered and cared for, it will have the appearance of being dry. Then it will randomly turn nicely green out of nowhere (no pattern I've noticed between travelling off the lot, when I water or fertilize it, etc.) and then maybe few days later it looks dry again even when it's not. I'm still checking to see if there's a pattern, like a specific plant, but as it otherwise is functional and healthy, I kind of put my investigating it on the back burner for now.
