Every time I try to place this small bookshelf it always says my sim can’t get to it and I’m not sure how to fix it. Nothing is in the way and it’s placed with Moveobjects off

I placed down the book shelf from the refined living room kit ("The best of non-fiction") on the coffee table from basement treasures. No matter where I placed it on the table the sim displayed a pathing error and would not grab a book.
I then placed down the basegame tabletop bookshelf (the "vintage books" one) in the exact same spot I had previously had the bookshelf from the refined living room kit and the sim was able to use that bookshelf just fine without me making any changes to the placement of other furniture in the room.
Something seems to be broken about the refined living room bookshelf, otherwise I wouldn't expect the basegame bookshelf, which is the same size, to work without an issue placed in the exact same spot.
