Sim who asks for mark of Edith functionally becomes Edith

Also wanted to include...I started a new save file (with the same sims that I saved to the gallery) and it is still doing this. 

Has anyone tried shift-clicking and removing a sim from their household and then adding them back in?

I've just had the same issue and I tried this and it was the only thing that worked for me!

OK I fixed it with minimal loss in my game using James Turner's method for removing packs.

If your game is Life and Death centered, this is probably not the method for you. If your house is in Ravenswood, I can imagine it would be completely deleted so move your sims out completely if you want to try. All of your progress in this world will be lost.

1. Remove Life and Death using the method found here: https://jamesturner.yt/disablepacks
2. Create a new copy of your save file (just in case).
3. Load the game
4. The Edith glitch should be gone now.
5. Save the game
6. Close the game
7. Put the pack back in (I just deleted the command from the launch commands box)
8. Load the game.

I’m having the same issue. My sim basically became Edith after she got the mark from her once. Now my sim is completely unplayable since others can’t interact with her because the only thing they can do is the “attempt to communicate” interaction. However she can normally interact with others, so it’s only working one way when it comes to communication. However there are many interactions she can’t do despite this. She can’t marry her boyfriend even though they live together, they can’t have kids together (neither through woohoo nor the science baby option). This bug is affecting my game so badly.

So my Sim went on a mission for her aspiration (Ghost Historian) and came back with the Mark of Edith. Everything was fine for a little while then Bam - whenever another Sim tries to interact with her, up comes the Attempt To Communicate menu.

She shrieks at people (  great fun at parties, NOT) can't have woohoo ( her husband has left her for another Sim) she can't interact with animals (she was a championship level rider but could not ride or look after the horse so the horse has gone)...you get the picture. 

I went to Edith, asked for the mark again which should revers the process. Nope. It's gone from her trait list but her miserable existence is unchanged. I have tried the trait code traits.remove_trait MarkOfEdith and no luck there either. I have run a repair on my game five times in 48 hours.

I have put a tremendous amount of time and effort into her and I will be very upset if it was all for nothing.

Does anyone out there know how I can lift this curse from her?

I have the same issue. Is this just The End for my sim? Is she cursed to live alone forever?

I have tried the remove from family and put back. Didn't work. 

That sucks. I don’t know how to help but I know what it’s like to put such work into a sim and then you have to restart. I hope you can get this resolved. 

Thank you, my friend - much appreciated. I have cultivated this Sim since birth - got View To A Skill with her. Then whammo. She will continue to achieve quests and is currently in Strangerville - but she has lost her family, friends, inventory, marriage, her entire personal past. Despite being a riding champion, she can't get on a horse anymore. She must be the only single at Love Highland who got nada. The idea of being multigenerational has gone out the metaphorical window. Over 1000 hours. Getting really frustrated now. I have tried every possible solution I found on the internet. I just hope EA can fix this. I am so very sorry that you have been in a similar position - it does indeed suck. Big time.
