Yep, the update broke my game too. Any time I travel my played Sim reverts back to whatever outfit they were wearing at the last save. It's not just in the portrait, it's on the actual Sim as well. In the 'Change Outfit' panel, the 'current outfit' selected will be the one my Sim should be wearing. Since my habit is to save each night while my Sims sleep, effectively anytime my Sim travels they arrive in their pajamas. I have to save prior to traveling in order for my Sim to keep on the outfit they're wearing. Playing on PC, happens with mods both active and removed.
Editing to add: Shift+click > Reset Object (Debug) will put the Sim and portrait into the correct outfit.
