I've noticed this too.
Sim 1 will be wearing their sleepwear, but if I travel to a different lot with Sim 2 and then come back, Sim 1’s portrait shows them in their everyday outfit. Even though they still appear to be in sleepwear, plus their footsteps make the shoe sounds from their everyday outfit.
