Sims won't use nearest furniture while eating/reading

I've had my sims run halfway across the map to sit on a bench and eat their meal when there is seating available right next to them. Also when cleaning dishes if there is a park nearby with a grill area and there is spoiled food they will run all the way over there to get it. Also when making meals they will use a counter far away when there is one right next to them. I just try to laugh it off now, but it's annoying when you're trying to make the most of your time.😄
