Since the latest patch the interactions on outdoor trash cans are missing. Exept "kick" and only for adults. Teens have no interactions at all. Replacing or different trash cans yielded the same result.
Indoor trash cans have two interactions available. "Empty trash" and "Rummage".
No error. Tested without mods.

I tested in my game with a teen Sim and the Garbelle Wastebasket placed indoors, the CanDent Slatted Outdoor Trash Receptacle, the Sleek 'n Stink Trash Can, the CanOFlage Outdoor Trash Receptacle, and the Trashe Can placed outdoors. The Trashe Can (my active trash can before testing) allows my teen Sim to cast magic, Sort out Recyclables, Sort out Compostable, Empty Trash, and Rummage. All of the other trash cans show grayed out Sort out Recyclables, Sort out Compostable, Empty Trash because the trash cans are empty, same result indoors and outdoors.
I added an adult Sim to my household for testing via testingcheats on and shift-clicking adding L. Faba to my family. She has the same grayed out Sort out Recyclables, Sort out Compostable, Empty Trash for all my indoor and outdoor empty trash cans (Garbelle Wastebasket, CanDent Slatted Outdoor Trash Receptacle, Sleek 'n Stink Trash Can, CanOFlage Outdoor Trash Receptacle), but she is also able to Kick, Rummage, Empty Trash, Sort out Recyclables, Sort out Compostable at my active trash can (Trash Can).

I just unlocked the smog vacuum and now trash cans offer to "dump smog".
The smooth sail diaper pail has "rummage for bits and pieces" available.
Trash cans on the street are unclickable when I want my sim to search for food and stuff in them. The new update says that there will now be trash in the world and in public areas, and you can rummage through trash cans. But does this only apply to trash cans on a lot? Are trash cans in the world unclickable?
