Vacation time - No option to take time off

I see this issue is 'under investigation,' but it's been 6 months since the original thread already and EA has apparently not fixed the issue. Has any one found a fix yet or a workaround? I just got the Life and Death pack and my Undertaker Sim cannot take a day off. I tried a Sim in a differerent save file, but they won't even go to work. They'll only leave for the job when they're not on their home lot, but as soon as you return to the home lot, so does the sim. So that's a complete bust. This second Sim at least actually goes to the job, but not being able to take a day off is getting increasingly annoying when they keep getting burn out and complaining of needing a day off but I can't do anything about it.
