sounds like a different issue. What OP is reporting (or the way I understand it) is that if they use the tool on an item, the game doesn't switch to the object in build mode(which works fine for me) Don't think they get an error message
Do you have it on all items you are trying ?

Hi crinrict
Sorry for any confusion, please let me know if I should create a new thread for my issue! I was trying to avoid clogging up the forums with duplicate posts about the same issue, but looks like you are right! My bad 😅
For me, it happens in Build Mode. And yes, the error message will occur on all items I try (Wallpapers, Fences, Pillars, Exterior trims, etc). I usually have to the leave the lot in order to quick-fix it, but eventually the Eyedropper stops working again. Other times, I will have to reboot the game completely inorder to quick-fix it.
This has been an ongoing issue for me for many years now. Sometimes it goes away for a period of time, then a patch will occur and this bug suddenly pops back up more frequently. Apologies for not reporting it sooner!
Version: 2.16.2.2300 (Xbox, all packs/kits)

I split your post out. Could be an xbox issue.

Thanks crinrict ! You truly are a HERO! 🤩
More feedback for the team:
- Rebooting the game did NOT solve the issue today.
- All methods for using the Eyedropper Tool via:
- selecting the Eyedropper using the cursor.
- tapping RB/LB to scroll.
- or tapping the "Y" button on asset I wish to copy.
...no matter what I try, it does't change outcome (I still receive error message).
