Same problem for me. On xbox series x. Started today after installing the photography stuff pack. Control freezes except for left thumb stick. Hope this gets solved soon but, heard the Saudis bought EA so I guess we'll see how things will work with them in charge. Let's hope they will be on top of things. I'm going back to No Man's Sky. That started out as junk but turned into something great. They fix bugs and glitches fast. Hope these guys learn from them👍😁
Update: I can confirm that on xbox, if you go to your system settings and go into offline mode, the controller freezing stops and game runs. You must go offline first or this will not work. I had tried everything also with same result. A few minutes into gameplay, control froze except left thumb stick. Go into offline mode, game plays smoother than a brand new servo bot. So, everyone on console, try going to offline mode till they fix the cash grab bug. And moderator, please put this temporary solution up top.
Tried this tonight and can confirmed it fixed the issue. I managed to play for 2 hours with no problems.
Concerning the work-around, I don’t mean to be dense, but did you launch the game and then go into off-line mode after it was launched? Because I tried to go into off-line mode first on my Xbox and the game wouldn’t load at all
Go into offline mode first. You should be signed in on your profile even after clicking on go offline in your settings. This should allow you to play the game offline unless you have some other setting that won't allow playing in offline mode.
I managed to get my game offline, but it ain’t running as smoothly as initially stated (which is not a diss to you! Thank you very much for the temp solution, seriously!).
Hopefully, this issue is permanently resolved because the current state of the game is still unplayable. Menus still freeze unexpectedly, but you can back out to manage worlds or the main menu at least to get out of the frozen error. You can still save your game as well, but it’s just the menu situation or any pop up (like kids wanting advice, setting up businesses, groups, etc)
Sorry to hear your game isn't running as smooth but, glad that it is at least working. For some reason mine runs better offline. I am on an xbox series x with an 8 tb external hard drive. Not sure if that matters.
