Game crashes on splash screen, unable to open game for almost a year

Game crashes on splash screen. Worked well before anti-cheat update.

What I've done (multiple times):
- Reinstalled game
- Verified game files
- Reinstalled anti-cheat

Running Win 11, RTX 3080 and Ryzen 5700X3D.

Game is installed on R: disk (nvme drive).

Game has been unplayable for long time.

I also have problem mentioned earlier. Game was working fine after release but after one of updates (anti-cheat addition for example) it turns off / crashes after "WRC screen with loading bar" .

    My PC spec:

WINDOWS 10 (with all current updates, same with drivers for GPU)

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz   3.50 GHz / GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 /  16 GB RAM /

Game is installed on SSD Samsung 870 EVO 4TB.

I'm not sure if CPU (without TPM) is the main problem but like I mentioned in past I could turn on game and play short stages without any problems (no graphics glitches).

I paid full price for game and all DLCs so I expect detailed info from EA how to fix (or info which apps may be in conflict with anti-cheat).  So far I did file checker and still nothing... maybe later I will try to perform clean boot.   I may sound rude but I did not break my game (it worked), there was no DEMO or trial to test performance of EA WRC, plus finding help from oficial support was not easy (overall I feel that I'm leaved with problem for myself).   BTW - if game was bought on steam, shouldn't it will be also visible in EA APP like Need for Speed games?

All drivers are up to date, and BIOS too. I actually did open a ticket and when the tech reached out to me he said he didn't know how to fix the problem and directed me to post on the forum. Unfortunately for me, this problem is not limited to just WRC, I can't start any games using EA Anti Cheat at all.

  • Hi

Are your amd gpu drivers up to date?  nice 9950x keep your bios up to date ;)

try opening a ticket with customer service. they might have fixes we dont know about.

On an AMD GPU and also have this problem. Game doesn't launch anymore, just get a Crash Report Handler referring to eaanticheat. Tried the exploit protection and accelerated graphics scheduling things but still didn't fix the issue. Also tried fully uninstalling and reinstalling the game, as well as repairing/uninstalling/reinstalling/updating anti-cheat. Hopefully EA can give us a refund, paying full price for a game that doesn't work. Apparently others with this issue have done a fresh install of Windows with just EA and WRC installed and still can't play the game. Ryzen CPU issue perhaps? I have a 9950X.

  • Hello,

I thought also the game was broken for me but I was able to get it working after months not being able to play.

when you say crashes, does the game close or does the window just freeze there?

what clocks are you running on your 3080? if the GPU boosts above 1950mhz the game crashes for me (i also have a 3080) Make sure your GPU drivers are version 572 or above.

Check if you have any launch options set in steam. In my case i have -vr for VR and -fileopenlog  (paul nagle co driver mod)

Are you using DLSS Swapper? I tried it and the game would not launch for me when using it)

The problem may be more with program incompatibility (something else running the anticheat does not like)

Disable Hardware Accelerated Graphics Scheduling in windows 11

in the Start bar type "exploit protection". click program settings. Add wrc.exe to that.

in program setting :wrc.exe set everything to OFF, just for this test.

I won't tell you to do a clean windows 11 install but you may want to test in a "clean/vanilla" system to make sure its not your software environment causing the issue.

    Good luck,

    Simon
