Exception Breakpoint
Hello, I'm currently encountering a mild issue: every time I shut down my PC after playing The Sims 4, a pop-up window appears telling me that an exception breakpoint has been reached. The title of the window indicates it is being prompted by EADesktop, which is found in the EA app files, not The Sims game files, so I am assuming it's a problem with that application. I'm not sure I can get a screenshot of the error message, since it's interrupting the shutdown process when it occurs, but I will attach a DxDiag.txt file below. The error code I'm getting is 0x80000003 (which seems to be the common code for this error) and it occurs at location 0x00007FFC0292D8E1 (or, at least, it did the time that I wrote down the details). I have since uninstalled and reinstalled both the EA app and The Sims 4 at least twice each, and I continue to encounter the issue, but I haven't checked if the error location is the same. It doesn't affect anything once the "OK" button or the "X" is pressed as far as I can tell, but it is an at first alarming and then annoying interruption to the normal shutdown process. In terms of troubleshooting, I've done the following: Repair files for EA application + The Sims 4 files, shutdown: issue persists; Disable run on startup for EA application, end EA tasks in Task Manager, use PC for light tasks (Firefox ~15 minutes) without using EA app or The Sims 4, shutdown: no issue encountered; Boot up PC, use for light gaming (Civ V for ~1 hour), shutdown: no issue encountered; Boot up PC, play The Sims 4 as normal, then shutdown: issue persists. Uninstall EA application + The Sims 4, check shutdown + restart quality without EA app installed: no issue encountered; Reinstall EA application + The Sims 4, shutdown + restart with EA app installed, without using EA app or The Sims 4: no issue encountered; Play as normal, then shutdown: issue persists; Boot up PC, check remaining storage and memory: looks okay to me, but I'm no expert. Refer to the attached DxDiag.txt file to make an independent judgement. Run mdsched + restart to check for memory leaks: no problems detected; Open the Sims 4, close the application, check Task Manager and end EA background processes, then shut down: no issue encountered. My current conclusion: Issue is related to the EA application and only the EA application, which is engaged on some level every time The Sims 4 runs. Because the EA application continues to run in the background/system tray even after closing the window, its background processes continue running until ended directly in Task Manager (which does not produce an error code) or indirectly by the shutdown process, which is where the pop-up occurs. Best guess: even the clean, new-in-box EA application background processes currently include a fragment of code with a debugging breakpoint that triggers when the program is "unexpectedly interrupted", producing a pop-up window which only allows the user to terminate the program, which, incidentally, is what the shutdown process is already doing, and what most users expect the "X" on the application window to have already done. Other, related advice I've seen but haven't tried: Run chkdsk as administrator to find and repair potential hard drive issues; Check for driver updates. Some kind of registry change to prevent EA from running in the background after being closed out? Though I have technically been able to locate the problem and a workaround, I would love to find a solution that doesn't require me to open Task Manager after every session of the Sims, so if you have any thoughts, please advise. Redownload and Reinstall EA App: Uninstall the EA app completely. Download the latest installer from the official EA website and reinstall it. Check Account Linking and Authentication: Visit the EA Account connection page: Log out from all EA-related sites, then back in using the 'Sign in with Xbox' option. EA will not email me any verification codes (I checked spam folders) to be able to log into my account when I went to turn 2fa on (didn't know it was turned off because usually it sends me a code to be able to get into my account). It said 'Something went wrong' then when i tried to do it again it said it sent a code but I never received it.EA App fails to connect and will not show any offline messages
Just as the title says. It takes 2 or 3 times to get connected to the app. Once it does, if anyone has left me a offline message, I cannot read it. I can see my side of the conversation, but their side is blank. I did clear the cache, got a fresh download of the app and nothing helped. EA trouble reporter gave me this ID b9aca68e-e65a-472e-8c47-672aecc32e80
