Gathering your suggestions about Mods/CC use with the Gallery!
Hello to all the mod/CC creators and users out there! I know there are other great communities of Sims modders and creators across the internet, so please share a link to this on your own websites so we can hear from everyone. This thread is to gather your feedback and suggestions on how we can improve the way mods and custom content interface with the in-game Gallery in The Sims 4. We want to continue to evolve the Gallery, but as it's a tool to help you share between each other, the most important thing we can do is listen to how you want to be able to use it. One caveat... I can't promise that we're working on anything posted in this thread; we're in the phase where we're putting together ideas and seeing what we want to do next. For mod/CC creators, I'm looking for your ideas on how we can improve the Gallery to get your creations out to more players who are interested in using them. How can we help expose your creations? How can we make it simpler for you to share? Currently you can see CC in Gallery screenshots, but there's no way to download CC, and no way to share/download mods whatsoever - do you want that to change? For players who simply enjoy using mods/CC in your game, I'm looking for your ideas on how you'd like to use the Gallery to improve the way you add mods/CC to your experience. What would help you find the content you want? Are there things we could add to the Gallery to make the in-game mod/CC experience better? What would make you feel safe about using mods/CC in tandem with the Gallery? The only specific thing I ask is that you keep your replies in this thread on topic to mods/CC and how we could improve your experience with them via the Gallery. PLEASE FOLLOW THIS FORMAT WHEN REPLYING: To help with gathering feedback (and to get the ball rolling with some of my own ideas!), please post your feedback in the following format... List out an idea or feature you'd like, and then give a short explanation of why you'd like it. For example: 1. Increase the character limit of text descriptions. Currently the text limit that you can write about any content you upload to the Gallery is fairly short. It doesn't allow me to adequately describe what the creation is, especially if I want to let people know about what custom content was used in the upload. 2. Allow copy/pasting text from descriptions on the Gallery. Even if I include a link in the description to let players know where they should go to download any custom content that was included in my Gallery upload, other players aren't able to copy/paste that text. This makes it really difficult because players have to write it down outside the game, or go back and forth between the game and the browser to manually type out the entire link. 3. Automatically make web links in descriptions and comments clickable to open a web browser. Even potentially more handy than being able to copy and paste text might be having links in text automatically become clickable so that players can easily get to my mod/CC creations and then download them from my website. If it opened an in-game browser so I don't have to leave the game at all that could be even better! 4. Install/Uninstall CC while the game is running. It'd be great if I could easily install cool looking CC that I see on the Gallery, and then download that Gallery creation and immediately start playing with it without having to leave the game. If I didn't like that CC after downloading it, it'd be very convenient if I could uninstall it from in-game as well. 5. List CC that was attached to any Gallery upload. It can be difficult to tell from the picture alone if something like a Sim that's on the Gallery has any custom content. It'd be helpful if the game detected any custom content and provided a list of which parts of an upload use custom content, even if the creator didn't choose to provide any additional information in the item's description. 6. Etc... Etc... OK, you get the idea! Post away!10KViews1like120CommentsWhat is up with KawaiiStacie’s Mods always breaking and never updating?
So I’ve about HAD it with KawaiiStacie and her mods…and I really really hate to say that, but her mods have broken my game and ruined my save files so many times that I’ve lost count! Each time I’ve tried to just blame it on me not updating my game with her updated mods, but I HAVE LITERALLY never experienced anything like in the picture. My in game menu wouldn’t show, nor my household panel, aspirations panel, needs bar, etc etc… On top of that, if I tried to create a new family I received an error 109 message. After getting rid of some solid (and updated/current) mods—cuz I was just that desperate! I finally tried getting rid of hers…it was her Slice of Life Mod… I come here and see not just that mod, but like all of her mods are having issues. Like what is the deall??? Like I don’t mean to be a rude but at some point maybe it’s time to stop creating so much content and focus on keeping on top of updates. I get she doesn’t have to create mods at all but perhaps making less, and just focusing on tweaking what she considers her staples would not only be more manageable for her, but also just plain efficient for everyone.Aging up into things disabled for random?
Has anyone else experienced this where NPCs age up wearing things you've disabled for random? Not just CC, EAxis items I have overrides for, like body hair. And before you ask, yes I did double check and they are properly disabled. They aren't occults, either. It's only started recently with I think the infants patch and I'm losing it, lolDoes anyone know what has happened to the modder Caradriel?
Hello, I was just wondering if anyone knows what has happened to the modder Caradriel. I know they have been silent for a long time. I used to love playing with their Better Babies and Toddlers mod, but that has been sadly broken for a while now. I'm hoping Caradriel is all right and is just taking a break. I know it has been a stressful time for many modders. I'm crossing my fingers that Caradriel will feel inspired by the wonderful Infants update and will return to the Sims community. Why does Curseforge take so long to update the mods?
MCCC was updated to version 2023.1.0 on February 12. In Curseforge it's still on version 2022.7.0. That's five days and counting. The same happened with TwistedMexis mods, and when I asked on Discord I got the recommendation to download from the site because CF take so long to update. I have CF simply to avoid having to think of updates myself. What's the point of it if I still have to go around looking for updates on individual pages? With this update it wasn't a major issue, as I have been able to play fine with the older versions, but with larger updates having the wrong version is game breaking. It really shouldn't go a weak before an update. Interestingly enough, smaller mods like aspirations seems to update much faster. What I don’t understand…
So a few questions here. I may not sound educated about this and it’s because I’m not. But I literally just started looking into Mods for the sims 4 game because I have heard they improve gameplay. From what I’ve seen it looks like some of them do. What I don’t understand is if someone can create something on their own to improve the game so successfully, Why can’t a multimillionaire game company EA/Maxis follow suite. With all the money they get from millions of players why is this game still so flawed? When a game mod can change it easily? It doesn’t add up to me. Am I missing something here? Is there a legitimate reason why EA/Maxis seems to have such a hard time improving this game even though someone who doesn’t work for the game can change it and make the sims lives more interesting with richer depth and personalities? I will admit I have not downloaded any mods. I am skeptical and a little scared to do so. How do I know they aren’t going to put virus or some kind of male-ware on my game or computer. And some mods I noticed when I looked at mods for the game on the sims mod website seemed possibly inappropriate. But some seemed like they would be fine and really improve game play. Is their a website that vets these mods to know if their safe or not or appropriate? I heard Mod the sims website does but I don’t know if I believe it. Any educated information on these questions would be appreciated.Um, excuse me!
After working on my mods folder for over a day to get rid of the error code "game failed to save" and a bunch of numbers, as I figured it had to be a mod as most are involved. Then I find out it's not mod related, it's on EA! I'm not a very happy simmer right now as this renders my game unplayable. If I can't save it, I refuse to play it. Now I find it is EA fault...great, I wonder how long it will be before they fix this, if ever. Without a patch, my game is useless. Has anyone else had this problem? Please, please, please EA, fix this problem.441Views0likes6Comments
