Battlefield 6 DirectX crashes can only be a problem with the game engine.
Battlefield 6 is crashing with DirectX errors on a wide range of systems. This has been happening since release and appears related to the game engine under heavy load. It needs an official fix. Many players are reporting the same behavior across different hardware and drivers. Some players say that the problem appears to have existed since Battlefield 2042. I can't confirm that myself, as I haven't played BF2042 for very long. My system: - CPU: [I7 14700K] - GPU: [RTX 3090] - RAM: [DDR5/ 64gb / 6400mhz] - Storage: [M.2 SDD/NVme] - Motherboard and BIOS: [MSI Z790 Carbon WiFi/latest] - OS: Windows 11 [24H2] fully updated - Display: [1440P/ultrawide] - Driver: NVIDIA [latest] clean installed with DDU Error codes: - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED What happens: - Crashes occur sporadically - Sometimes only the game and open Steam processes die (most in my Case) - Sometimes the entire PC reboots (for some players) - there is no consistent pattern by map or time into the match But there are repeated DirectX related crashes that are not fixed by normal maintenance or driver changes. Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch the game normally from Steam or EA App 2. Join RedSec or Conquest mode 3. Played it through heavy action for a few minutes to tens of minutes or Sometimes over one hours 4. Crash with one of the codes above Impact: - Progress and match results are broken - Time is wasted on failed troubleshooting - This affects many players, not isolated edge cases What I have already tried: (None of the following resolved the issue) - Drivers and OS: - Clean driver installs with DDU for multiple versions - Switching between Game Ready and Studio drivers - Windows updates and optional cumulative updates - Removing all overlays and capture tools - Graphics API and launch options: - Launching with -d3d11 - Disabling or enabling the different Anti-lag and upscaling ingame options. - Forcing different shader cache settings in the driver - BIOS and firmware: - Enabling and disabling Resizable BAR - Updating GPU VBIOS - Updating motherboard BIOS and chipset drivers - Power and stability: - Returning CPU and GPU to stock clocks - Disabling XMP or EXPO - Raising power limits or lowering them to stock - Checking PSU capacity and Performance - disable PCI-Express - Link State Power Management on Windows - set Windows PWR-Management to ultimate Performance - Game files and cache: - Verifying files via Steam - Reinstalling the game on a different drive - Deleting DX shader caches - switching Graphics settings - Dropping all settings Low - Disabling Anti-lag and upscalers - Reducing resolution to well below native - Frame cap on and off (ingame and rtss) - Vsync on and off - disable Freesync/gsync - Workarounds that are not solutions: - Artificially throttling performance to keep GPU load very low (this seems to be working) - Running windowed or borderless - (Not tested long enough yet) - Disabling all background apps and services - (Not tested long enough yet) Community signal: Multiple reports show the same DirectX crash codes and the same failure of the usual fixes. The scope appears broad across GPUs from different vendors, multiple driver lines, and fully updated Windows systems. -- All this points to an engine side stability issue under specific render or memory pressure conditions.-- What we need from EA and the dev team: Official acknowledgement that this is being tracked as a top priority and a targeted hotfix or a detailed workaround that does not **bleep** performance. If a driver side change is needed, coordinated guidance with NVIDIA and AMD. Optional: a temporary toggle to disable the specific feature set that triggers the crash. Clear communication on progress and an estimated timeline for a fix. This is blocking normal play for many of us. A stable fix would go a long way for the community. Thank you.7.9KViews71likes50CommentsBattlefield 6 – FPS drops by half until a setting is changed
Hey everyone, I’ve been running into an issue in Battlefield 6 where my FPS sometimes drops to about half of what it should be when launching the game or loading into certain maps. I found a temporary fix: if I change my display mode from Fullscreen to Bordered Windowed (or vice versa), the FPS immediately goes back to normal. It seems like something gets stuck with the display or graphics settings when the game starts. Maybe it’s related to fullscreen optimization or resolution scaling. Has anyone else run into this? Would be great if EA could look into it.4.3KViews6likes15CommentsBlack Screen when exiting match (report)
As the title says... I've been getting stuck on a black screen when exiting a match. This has been a persistent issue since early last month and by a quick Google search, it certainly appears this is a neglected problem considering how many people have reported or discussed this issue. I've tried reinstalling, repairing, changing various settings (lowering graphics, resolution, full screen to borderless and windowed), updating GPU drivers, and nothing has fixed it. This issue requires force closing (Alt-F4) BF6 and relaunching the game.1.1KViews9likes19CommentsConstant crashes on PC
This issue happens with both Nvidia and AMD GPU's. I've had constant crashes on multiple 9070 XT variants and RTX 5080. Either memory leaks or mesh‑streaming pool collapse. I've also gotten the device/driver not responding error. So much fun. Downclocking the GPU is not the answer. This is clearly a game issue and should be fixed by the dev team. DLSS is disabled. Graphics at high setting to minimize vram usage. Nvidia Reflex + Boost enabled (game default setting). Enabling DLSS (upscaling only) guarantees crashes within a few minutes. Nvidia App profile recommended settings will automatically enable DLSS unless you manually disable "auto optimize". The only band aid "fix" I've found is to: 1. disable GPU shader cache in driver. Restart pc because shader files are locked. 2. delete GPU shader cache by browsing to the shader cache directory and deleting files or folders. 2. delete windows directx shader cache. 3. repair game files. 4. re-enable GPU cache. 5. reboot. This will be stable for a while until it isn't and starts crashing again then the only way for me to "fix" is to repeat the above steps. This is extremely frustrating and enough for me to just stop playing.66Views2likes2CommentsCpu issues, crashing, extreme frame drops, high temps/usage
My system: ryzen 5900x, zotac 3060 12gb, 2x16gb gskil ripjaw ddr4 3200mhz, 1tb nvme, asrock b450m-hdv mobo, hyper 212 black ed, 4 corsair 120 daisy chain case fans, 650w psu, cooler master micro atc case From the day i upgraded from a ryzen 5500 to a 5900x i’ve had issues with this game. I’ts not mobo vrm’s or psu, i ran hwinfo64. For some reason, only this game maxes my cpu out all the time, causing extreme frame drops and crashes, without MAJOR tuning. I got rid of both in a bunch of ways and found the most efficient way to do it, while gaining fps instead of losing it. I was spiking up to 100% cpu usage, 90 degrees, and even idling the game at 82 degrees, at 70fps. Now i get 130 fps average (no frame gen) at 60 degrees max, never peaking 40% cpu usage. No more crashes. If you ran hardware monitors and saw similar problems, here are my optimal fixes. Disable “PBO” in bios. Install process lasso, set the game to run on the cores and threads windows doesn't use, if you have a powerful cpu. Induce performance mode and exclude it from pro balance. Set it to high priority on cpu, gpu, and io. Set your power plan to bitsum highest performance or ultimate performance, then under advanced power plan settings, set min and max processor state to 99%. Next make a user.cfg file on notepad and save it in your bf6 folder, look up a tutorial. Set it to your cores and threads minus however many windows uses, most likely 2. If you have a smaller cpu, try all cores. If its bigger, try one ccd. If your games still not smooth, lower your “VID” in .05 increments in bios. If it doesn’t get better after 2 of those, revert the “VID” to auto. This is to undervolt your cpu, making it maintain higher clock speeds at lower temps for longer periods of time. Try switching your “xmp” from auto to “xmp 2.0” in bios (ram overclock), or the other way around. If you're having cpu issues and this didn't fix it, i got nothingBF6 crashing and causing PC to restart
I'm having a problem where every single time I enter into a match I'm able to play for maybe 30 seconds and then my entire computer crashes and forces a restart. I played the beta in august and had absolutely 0 issues with running the game, but now the game releases and this happens. Is anyone else experiencing this? Please fix this EA.Solved31KViews72likes425CommentsBattlefield Kicks me to dashboard or Shuts off Xbox
Why do I always get kicked out of Battlefield 6, whether it’s multiplayer or Red Sec? I can play any other game, whether it’s Flight Sim or ARC. I have hard reset, factory reset, uninstalled, and reinstalled the game, and it’s the same thing over and over. I have a fan on my box. It gets up to 108 degrees. If the fan is off, it gets to 122 degrees, which is still within normal limits, but I always get kicked out. I am hardwired into my router; I get 500mb, which isn’t bad. Please can somebody help me?32Views0likes2CommentsDIRECTX ERROR
I've been experiencing DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG whenever I play Battlefield 6 for around 20-30mins. It happens only on BF6, other games are okay. My GPU driver is up to date. I have several issues with this game. Firstly I have problems with ads image on thermal scopes, mainly on Eastwood map. 2nd issue is when I quit a game It goes to a black screen 80% of the time. 3rd issue is I can not turn off crossplay on PC. This frustrates the **bleep** out of me. I paid for the game just the same as console players. I have decided to uninstall the game. If I Owned a disc like back in the day I would throw it out the F'in window.
