Major graphic issues on Mac
Hi everyone! Recently I got back into the Sims 3 and had to move from Origin to the EA app. Ever since switching I've been having graphical issues that make the game unplayable. I am able to enter a save but during loading (about halfway) the game starts looking like in the screenshot. The screen also flashes a lot. I decided to uninstall all custom and store content as well as mods. I also tried playing on base graphical settings and in a window but nothing works. Like I said, when I was playing the Sims through Origin on the same computer, it ran smoothly on more advanced settings in full screen mode with a lot of CC. It's only after switching to the EA app that the problems started.30Views0likes1CommentScreen glitch
Hello. I posted this problem on the Sims 3 subreddit but got no useful advice. I keep getting this random screen glitch in worlds like Bridgeport and Appaloosa Plains. I haven't noticed it elsewhere yet. I have no mods except NRaas and intro remover (in the second clip it was a fresh install). My graphics card is recognised, I applied Alder Lake. And it still happens. What causes this and how can I fix it? I am running the EA app version of the game.36Views0likes6Commentsgame freezing every single time - macbook air
Hi, i know the game isnt made for macbook, but my game crashes everytime now. i dont even play long, maybe 1 hr or even less. saving takes forever so i dont do it every 30 mins (i cant even get to a saving worthy point lately because it freezes before i plan to). i have no mod and no CC! thinking of deactivating some packs (like pets and world adventures) even though i see no option to do so. i tried every single keyboard shortcut to force save, force menu, force build/buy mode, force quit to trigger saving- NOTHING! my laptop reacts, i can move my mouse and use other apps, the water or trees move and the music keeps playing but no reaction whatsoever. its totally random and not whenever i do a certain thing. i do have to say i play every family in the world because i love to change their households, so i modify a lot of families but thats all i do. like i said, no mods or custom content! please help, i love my files because i feel the city has so much progression... its boring to stick with one fam. any ideas how else to force safe or what to do for smoother experience? i'm really upset at this point. i played since 2012 and spend so much money on packs. my laptop is from 2018 - german keyboard thanksss!!34Views0likes1CommentBad textures despite high settings
I have attached two screenshots of high quality textures failing to load despite having max settings. I have re-installed the game 3 times, reset Nvidia control panel settings to default as well as having messed with a couple changes before that. This is completely unmodded. The issue started last night when I re-installed the game, it was working perfectly before that. I've pasted my deviceconfig.log file below. === Application info === Name: Sims3 Version: Build: Release === Rating info === GPU: 1 GPU Memory: 1 CPU: 2 RAM: 4 CPU Speed: 2112 Threading: 3 Adjusted above and changed the texture memory from Texture memory: 32MB <<OVERRIDE>> to Texture memory: 32GB and it SEEMS to have fixed it, for now (holy smokes there's no way that worked). I'm still posting though because there still could be an issue under the hood, and his (my) solution didn't actually change anything. Any help would be appreciated.23Views0likes1CommentDeviceConfig says it can't match graphics card
I have not played the Sims 3 for about a year, and about a week ago I decided to set it back up on The EA app and attempt to play on my Windows 11 PC. I installed the games, installed the necessary redistributable package files and installed the correct version of DirectX. I also installed the GPU Add-On from Nexus Mods and I made sure to set the installation path for the game, and I was able to "Apply" this setting. When I checked the DeviceConfig.log, I saw that it found and matched my GPU. I played the game for about 2 days before I ran into a separate issue with the EA app and I ended up resetting my PC but keeping my files, so I just had to re-install my apps and programs (the GPU-add-on program being one of them). I also made sure to re-install my games after re-installing EA. Now, when I installed the GPU Add-On and went to set the installation path, I found that it was still set. I opened the game menu and exited, and was not happy to see that the DeviceConfig.log now says it has "Found" 1 device but has not "matched" it. On a (possibly related) note: While typing this out and trying to troubleshoot, I noticed that the DeviceConfig.log keeps disappearing. It only shows in my Sims 3 folder when the game is open. I checked Windows Updates and all my drivers to see if an update was needed but that is not the case. I'm not sure where to go from here so I would appreciate any assistance. Thank you.Solved85Views0likes4CommentsSims 3 Lagging Severely Despite High-End PC – Need Help
Hi everyone, I recently purchased The Sims 3 hoping to enjoy its unique gameplay, as I’ve always heard great things about it. However, my experience has been incredibly frustrating due to constant lag and stuttering. For reference, my system specs are: GPU: RTX 3060 CPU: 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12400F @ 2.50GHz RAM: 32GB My computer runs The Sims 4 flawlessly on ultra settings with 200+ Sims in a zone, so I expected The Sims 3 to perform even better. Unfortunately, even on the lowest graphic settings, The Sims 3 constantly freezes. Every time I move the mouse or try to scroll around, there's a 2–3 second stutter or freeze. I've already tried many popular fixes and performance guides from YouTube and forums (e.g., NRAAS mods, graphics rules tweaks, reducing town population), but nothing has helped so far. I even attempted to get a refund (still within the 14-day window), but it was denied because it didn’t meet the refund policy. I’d really appreciate any advice or solutions that could help make the game playable. I want to love The Sims 3, but right now it’s unplayable. Thanks in advance!554Views0likes3CommentsWhat could be causing this issue with butterfly spawners?
This recently just started happening. And it's happening in all worlds, EA and custom. Attached is a copy of my Dxdiag. I do have mods installed, but seems to also happen in clean folder. I just want to make sure its not my card.147Views0likes10CommentsSims 3 keeps crashing after 30 mins (dx diag included)
I accidentally updated my game to the newest 2025 version (1.69.47) a few days ago, and now my game wont run beyond 30 mins. My game used to run 3 - 4 hours with the highest settings, mods, and merged cc. I use RegulSaveCleaner and delete my saves regularly. I also make sure that I have enough running because I have the Task Manager open. Since the update, my game has been crashing. Things I've tried but did not work: playing in Windows 8 playing in Windows 7 repairing the game through the EA app removing core mods (Simler's Core Mod and Nraas error trap). These are still removed removed Smooth_Id patch/mod. This is still removed switched affinity to CPU 1 only before switching back to 'all processors' updating the graphics card (it is up to date) Not sure what it could be! My game was running perfectly fine before the update, and I have been playing in a large world (Alpine County, I think) for years. DXDIAG ATTACHED218Views0likes9Comments
