New Sims Voices
I play the Sims 4 on PC and I've been looking for mods to add new Sims voices for a while. I'm just getting burned out and bored with the 3 voices for males and females. Does anyone know if EA has any plans to include new voices in the future or is there a way to add new voices to your game? Any help is so appreciated!2.3KViews4likes8CommentsEgonVM's Ultimate NPC Making Guide 2.0
So yeah, due to how these forums work with the spoilers, the original guide is somewhat messed up and updating it would result in loss of information. So, after some consideration, I've decided to make a V2.0 thread on it, using the similar approach to the List of Traits with link trees and each pack being in its own post (so it is collapsible). This thread will have two main posts under which I'll post the info. Please do not reply under them. You may reply to this post or other replies (including mine). Links to important replies: NPC Making List Additional Guides But how does it all work? Basically, if you ever wanted to make custom NPC sims, good news is that most of them can be done without any mods. The main cheats you are going to require are those: testingcheats on traits.equip_trait [trait_codename] careers.add_career [career_codename] In the guide, there are 5 types of "difficulties" I'm going to use (and emojis I'm using with it): 🔷Played-Friendly - These ones, usually traits, can not only also be taken from sims the Played Households, switching to the household the sim is in won't make them lose their NPC status. 📝Simply Assign a Career/Trait - These will lose their NPC status when you play with them. The usual way of making those is by making these sims, equipping them with the required traits and/or careers, then evicting them. 🏙Location-Based Career - Unfortunately, this is where the career location matters, and it is the venue they'll be working at. As to my knowledge, there isn't any way to set a career location to a sim without mods, the best bet here is to modify sims already working there or make one of the custom sim unplayed and hope they'll appear in that role. 🔻Must Be Unplayed - You may assign a required career and/or trait, but they'll won't appear in the role until you set the household to be unplayed. 👨👩👧👦Out of Control - Welp, these sims are chosen randomly from a broad selection. No way to influence the game to pick the sim you want... And in addition, these emojis represent the following: ✅️ Must have, meaning that your sim must have that skill, trait, career etc to appear in this role. 🟡 Optional, meaning that your sim can have it for the game to consider them more for the role, but they don't need to have it. Sometimes used in sub-types. ❌️ Mustn't have, meaning if your sim has the skill, trait, career etc, the game will never place them in the role even when all other conditions are met. ❕ Splits into sub-types, meaning that for the sim to appear in the role, they must meet at least one of the requirements in the following list below for the game to consider them. Ghosts and sims that are currently at work are usually excluded. In addition, this list shows the sims that will be excluded from the most of the roles: I've also decided to bring out templates too. These are not important when making NPC sims, but are rather some interesting side-info on how sims are generated for the role by the game. So yeah, look at the list and have fun making your own NPC sims!16KViews11likes414CommentsList of Traits in The Sims 4
Hello! Despite the discussion collecting these already existing, I've decided to make my own traits list due to how these forums work (it starts from the first post, not the last post, and it takes long to reach the last post). This list contains all the traits in-game, both visible and hidden, in these sections: Base Game Expansion Packs Game Packs Stuff Packs & Kits Non-Pack Filtered Visible Traits Non-Pack Filtered Hidden Traits Popular traits Update Log To add a trait, you'll need to use this cheat: traits.equip_trait [trait_codename] And to remove a trait, you'll need to use this cheat: traits.remove_trait [trait_codename] In both cheats, [trait_codename] needs to be replaced with trait's codename. For most of the personality traits, it's same as its name, but there are exceptions (Erratic for example). Find the trait codenames in the list below. These lists will be kept updated as patches and packs come out. Please do not post under these trait lists. If you'd like to suggest traits for the popular section or want to discuss some traits, please reply to either this post or someone else's.22KViews21likes89CommentsSafest way to remove residential rentals
With the current sale going on, I finally caved in and got for rent. I want to use the world, the assets in build/buy and cas and a few objects like kettles and hopscotch. But I am afraid to dive into residential rentals because of the bugs. What is the best and safest way to remove a residential and turn it into a regular residential lot. Place another gallery lot or change zoning. How do I best move out the current residents?538Views0likes7CommentsSearching for Discussions and Answers
The Search Function There’s a lot of content on these forums, so you might want some assistance in finding specific discussions and/or answers. Which is why we have the Search function! There are three main forms of the Search function, sitewide search, location search and advanced. You can find the sitewide search on every page and location search on board or index pages Sitewide search The sitewide search, as the name implies, checks the entire site. It can also be used to search for specific forum-goers or staff. To start this, click the Magnifying Glass icon to the top right of the page, then type what (or who) you’re looking for in the field that pops up. Location search The location search can be started by clicking in the search bar in the middle or to the side of the main banner. This will populate threads from that location and its sub-board. Both of these will then populate with relevant Threads. The sitewide search will even show matching people and boards on the right hand side. If what you’re looking for is here, great! Click through to your intended destination. Advanced search However, if you want to refine things a bit more, you can press Enter to go to the more advanced search page. Here you’ll see a more extensive list of search options, such as the ability to display by relevance, age, likes or views. There are also a bunch of filters you can apply to narrow down your search. Post priority/Linear v Threaded You can change how a Discussion displays its replies (Linear/Threaded/Community default) from your profile page. Comments/replies in a discussion will be either by posting time or by Likes, and this can be selected on the profile page or in the discussion itself. You can change this in a Discussion by clicking the button just below the first post, which will show the current display style. For general chats, folks may want to stick to the default of threading by Most Liked, to see the most compelling community posts. For technical issues, it may be wise to view linearly by post time, to see how discussion of an issue grew. However this is your choice, be sure to experiment to see what works for you. Filters We encourage you to have a poke around the search and filter options to get comfortable with the search tool. You can filter by: Use Last update to show only content updated in the last day, week, month or year. Whether the Replies have a Solution or not. Location, checking for a specific franchise or board. Check for the presence of a specific Author. The Content Type, whether regular Forums, blogs, Ideas or Knowledge bases. You can also search by Tags. How to find posts from EA Staff You might notice folks here with names prefixed by EA_ and the Community Manager title. That’s us, the EA staff. 👋 While we generally can’t help with 1:1 account issues we’ll be here reading things, gathering info, keeping the boards safe and clean, and probing for information on potential emerging issues. Because of this at times you might want to focus on threads which we open. Discussions we start will have the EA icon, so you can use that to find any updates we have on issues. If you see our EA Icon in on a discussion about an emerging issue we may have important updates too. We’ll often highlight important information by marking it as Solution too. You can also click on the staff member’s name to view their recent posts and solutions, which may also have useful updates for you436Views2likes0CommentsWhat's New on the Forum
Folks coming here may be familiar the older EA Forums or Answers HQ, our established support forum. The new EA Forums have some changes, which we’ll go over here. A broader focus Mark as Solution Linear and threaded views Introducing Tags! A new way of doing Bug Reports A broader focus Previous versions of our game forums were all about conversation and chatter, whereas AHQ zeroed in on troubleshooting, gathering information, and reporting bugs. This new forum aims to blend the best of both worlds: a vibrant social space to chat and connect, and a resource hub to get help, share fixes, report bugs, and resolve issues. Mark as Solution Folks who've used Answers HQ will be familiar with this, but for those completely fresh, this forum has the ability for a Discussion starter (or CM) to mark a post as Solution. For technical issues this might be a fix or workaround, or a critical piece of information. For some wider communication/emerging issues, it might be used to highlight updates or requests for additional info. This should be quite visible, so check them out when you see them. Linear and threaded views You can now view discussions in different ways! This can vary by community/forum, but you can also override this with your personal preference. From your Profile My Settings page, scroll down and pick from your options. Within threads, you can swap from sorting Oldest first, Newest first, or Most Liked first. For discussions, folks may want to stick to the default of Sorting by Most Liked, to see the most compelling community posts. For technical issues, it may be wise to sort by post time, to see how discussion of an issue grew and developed. Introducing Tags! These are super-important, they’re used to show relevant content at-a-glance, for helpers to find issues they might be able to assist with, and to make your content more searchable. Tags are set on a per-discussion basis, and different boards will have different tags available, depending on the content type. In most boards it isn’t mandatory to add tags when making a new discussion, but it’s usually a good idea to do so. For boards around technical issues we've made it mandatory for all to use tags. This way everyone will immediately know what your issue is or on which platform you play. Important information to get help with game! Adding a tag is simple, when creating a new discussion you’ll find available tags at the bottom of the page. Click the relevant ones, and they'll be added to the post when you publish it. We'll continue to evolve how we use tags, so if you have any suggestions don't hesitate to share them with us. A new way of doing Bug Reports We're shaking up how we do bug reports. When you make a report, we will automatically assign the "new" status to it. Once we have a chance to review, we will update the status ("under investigation", "needs info", and more) as appropriate. We'll update the status of these posts as necessary to better demonstrate where an issue is in the reporting process, and you can sort through the various statuses to see similar bugs or what stage your report is at.756Views5likes0Comments
