Sept 2024 update broke loading screen to main menu and exiting cas
I carried out the update yesterday. Updated every mod I had that I was aware needed updating, at first I could get into the game but the game would crash going out of CAS whether it was live mode, from the household management or a new save etc so I went OK must be a mod. Dragged out the entire mod folder from my game to be sure, tested it. Still faulting. Removed the entire sims 4 folder so all saves, trays etc will be new, still happening while 100% vanilla. Uninstalled and reinstalled sims, repaired for probably the 07th time. Now when I try to go in (still vanilla, no saves or tray files etc, no mods at all) I get stuck at the loading screen like it can't progress to the main menu option. I've managed to get into the game, but after going into CAS still crashes on exit, ticked to use the direct x9 which seems to have rectified the cas issue except every second attempt im still stuck at the loading screen for the main menu to get into any saves. I've already done every basic troubleshooting method I can think of, just wanting to know if anyone else is stuck like this?7.2KViews17likes37CommentsReceiving "there is a problem with your game's setup" error after latest update
Hello! This is the first time I have received this error and I don't know what to do! I already contacted EA for help, and they redirected me to post about it on the forums. What happens is when I try to launch Sims 4 to play, I receive an error stating "There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall the game." (attachment provided) I removed all cc/mods and additional files (like saves and tray) to a different location. I used Revo Uninstaller to uninstall both Sims 4 and the EA App thoroughly and did the scan after. I reinstalled both the EA App and Sims 4, which took all night, and error still remains. I tried doing a repair on the Sims 4 game, error still remains. At this point, I have no files from the game so this is completely mod and cc free. Before the update, I had no issues. I have had played Sims 4 ever since the first game released and this is the first time I have seen this error. I have no idea what else I can do! Is the game just unplayable for me now? I will note I am running an older version of Windows (Windows 7 to be exact). I did another suggestion that said to run dxdiag to receive error info (also attached). So I have already done this step. Before you ask: No, I never play with mods and have none installed. Yes, my OS is updated. Yes, my game is updated. Yes, I've repaired my game. Yes, I deleted and reinstalled the EA app. Yes, I've deleted the localthumbcache.package. Yes, I've deleted the onlinethumbnailcache folder. Yes, I renamed my Sims 4 folder and moved it to the desktop, yes, I started a new save . And yes, I've restarted my computer. I've been playing this game for over a decade, I know the basic and advanced troubleshooting methods better than I know my own parents, so I think its time EA address that they are the ones breaking this game, not the users. Ever since the Destroyed by Nature expansion pack came out, my game crashes about every 40 minutes. I know it's not just me having this problem as every simmer on YouTube is experiencing the same problem. As a consumer, it's not to much to ask for a functional product, or a refund for the $1000+ we/I have spent on broken and unplayable DLC Fix the frequent crashes ThanksSims 4 Infinite Loading Screen November 2024
Hi everyone, I'm running into an issue when I try to load my most recent save in The Sims 4. The game launches fine from the EA app, but when I click the Resume button to go back into my most recently accessed save file/household, I get stuck on an infinite loading screen. As a troubleshooting step, I moved the Sims 4 folder from my Electronic Arts folder to my desktop and was able to launch a new game successfully. However, I’d really like to get back to my established save, as I've been building and playing in these worlds for generations and have put a lot of work into customizing my Sims and their lots. I also don’t use any CC or mods, so those aren’t causing the issue. Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!4.4KViews6likes17CommentsMy game keeps crashing
For about a week or so, every time I start my game it freezes anywhere between 2 and 20 minutes after starting. My drivers are up to date, I un-installed and re-installed both Origin and The Sims 4 with all of the expansion packs, deleted my save files to start over, and the game STILL crashes. Ive moved the folders onto the desktop to clear space. I don't have CC so that can't be the problem. Usually any time I go into Build Mode, the screen freezes and I can't even access the task manager to close the game. I have to turn off my computer. Now, it's just any time I launch the game in general. I bought this laptop in 2021 and it meets all of the requirments, so I doubt it's a computer problem. Everything was fine up until mid October. I don't know what else to do.1.1KViews6likes20CommentsGame doesn't open after updating
Hi, I just updated the game and the game just start to get fast black and then white screens until it stays in a wait screen with the cursor like it's loading. Before that I had no problem and just a few days ago bought some new add-ons, again, without a problem. It started after the update. I use a laptop that's pretty new so I know it's not about computer requeriments, I use no mods or cc. Launched via Origin like always. Tried the repair game already but it didn't work. Please, help needed, thanks.Solved1.1KViews4likes10CommentsInfinite saving/loading screens
I originally started having this issue after the September update and saw other people were having the same issue and followed all the advice given. updated all mods removed all CC started a new save (with no CC) removed off-the-grid lot types switched back to DX9 Unfortunately, none of these worked so I decided to wait until the next patch and try again. After the October patch, I updated everything and it's still happening. Whether I'm loading/travelling with a family, exiting CAS, or saving when building on a community lot. I'm completely out of ideas of what I can do at this point; I have plenty of space on my PC and while loading can be slow sometimes, I know that's because I have quite a few packs and CC and I've never minded. But the infinite screens are getting too much, I can't play the game at all without running in to one and I end up losing any progress I've made. Really hoping someone can help or this bug can be lessened at least in the next update. 🤞3.7KViews4likes12CommentsCrashing In CAS Constantly & More Frequently since the Update on 12/2/2025
I have a Vanilla game on my PC and have never used any mods or custom content. It is all EA Downloadable content from EA. Before the update on 12/2/2025 I was having to exit CAS and save frequently when updating sims families in CAS. Since the update I can't complete a single sim without it kicking me out of the game. I have tried several times to change a single outfit, save and play and it still kicks me out. I'm to the point I can no longer play the game unless I leave everyone in towny aged up outfits. UGH!!!!!! Not what I've paid thousands of dollars for. I own all the DLC until the last 2 kits. I refuse to purchase any further DLC until this issue is fixed. Happy to answer any questions you have and also happy to recreate the issue. There is no error code and a few times it even reset my PC. I have a Predator Helios NEO 16 Gaming Laptop that was purchased in Summer 2025 and it is completely up to date. Thank you, Streaming SImmerGame Crashing a Lot
I've been having a lot of trouble with the game crashing lately, enough so that it's getting hard to play. In the past, I've had families I've played for 10+ generations, and now I can barely manage to get through one generation without the crashing happening. I've been playing Sims since the original, before all the expansion packs were out, so over a couple of decades now, and I have never had as much crashing as recently. I play PC, no mods, no CC, just a bunch of the packs. It started recently, not linked to any particular pack that I noticed. I can start a brand new save and it won't crash for a while, but by the time the house starts getting bigger and they start getting more stuff (gardening, paintings for the walls, skill objects, etc), it starts crashing. I like to try completing collections, but I can't have those exhibited most of the time, they have to be in an inventory space/chest/household inventory. Sometimes I can play for several sims' days without it crashing, but other times it is crashing a couple times a day. I can't really play the game this way. I keep trying different saves to see if it'll work, but this has reached a point where I can't even play anymore because of all the crashing.
