Sims 4 Broken After Newest Update July 2024
After the new patch update yesterday, I can no longer save my game or open that menu up to do anything. Another big issue I'm facing is, every time I go to manage worlds or create a sim, my screen goes black and does nothing. The strange thing is I can still see my sims pictures down the bottom and interact with the environment around me, I just can't see what I'm interacting with. It's completely broken my game. I've verified the integrity of my game, restarted my pc and re-tried it this morning, but am still facing the same issues. I just have to keep closing my game via task manager every time because the black screen never disappears. I would also like to add, I don't have custom content or mods, so this isn't the issue for me.Solved8.1KViews49likes73CommentsGame not working
I cannot get into my saved games. Every time I click on a household to play it just sends me back to the world option screen. I have hundreds of hours into save files I no longer can get into and seem to keep crashing my game. PLEASE playtest this stuff before y'all publish it!!!!Solved1.9KViews31likes26CommentsCrash since update 09/18/24
Hello, Since the last update, my game is unusable. It crashes after a few minutes of play. I'm angry because everything was working fine until this update. I've checked my Windows and my NVIDIA card and everything is up to date. What happened? How is it possible to release such an update? My game starts, my game loads but after a few minutes everything goes black and it crashes. I'm waiting for a quick fix, without which I'm definitively giving up on sims 4 and 5, as this is unacceptable.Solved5.5KViews27likes39CommentsSept 2024 update broke loading screen to main menu and exiting cas
I carried out the update yesterday. Updated every mod I had that I was aware needed updating, at first I could get into the game but the game would crash going out of CAS whether it was live mode, from the household management or a new save etc so I went OK must be a mod. Dragged out the entire mod folder from my game to be sure, tested it. Still faulting. Removed the entire sims 4 folder so all saves, trays etc will be new, still happening while 100% vanilla. Uninstalled and reinstalled sims, repaired for probably the 07th time. Now when I try to go in (still vanilla, no saves or tray files etc, no mods at all) I get stuck at the loading screen like it can't progress to the main menu option. I've managed to get into the game, but after going into CAS still crashes on exit, ticked to use the direct x9 which seems to have rectified the cas issue except every second attempt im still stuck at the loading screen for the main menu to get into any saves. I've already done every basic troubleshooting method I can think of, just wanting to know if anyone else is stuck like this?7.3KViews17likes37CommentsI can't play my game!
Hello, I have seen this on other forums and wanted to add my experience. Ever since the most recent update, I have been unable to play my game. It crashes at the loading screen, therefore it doesn't make it to the main menu. I get no pop ups saying it crashed it just closes the game. I went on this forum for help cause I saw that other people were having the same issue. I tried everything from upgrading my graphics card, deleting the cache, allowing the game through my firewall, running it at administrator, and removing my mods folder. Nothing worked. So I am here because I'm upset that I can't play my game and I refuse to factory restart it as that risks me losing all of my saved that I have worked so hard on. And yes I did try repairing it. I'm not one to complain about the game so much as I have a powerful gaming computer and rarely experience bugs, this is the first time I have an issue with your game and I know I'm not the only one with this problem. Please respond to us and fix this issue as all of us have spent a lot of money on the game and created unique builds and stories. I've never had an issue with an update, and if we did in the past it was resolved quickly. I want this to be resolved too. So EA please fix our game so we can play again!Solved863Views15likes17CommentsGame Lags After July 1st Update
My game was running perfectly smooth before yesterday’s update, but now the FPS drops consistently throughout the game, making it unplayable more often than expected. It happens more frequently when using kitchen appliances and moving objects from the world into the inventory and vice versa. I need a fix ASAP, please. I currently own all packs, no MODS and no CC. I’ve already tried cleaning all cache and starting a fresh save after uninstalling and installing the game again. It’s so upsetting and frustrating. *Update: I've attached a DXDIAG file and 2 videos of how laggy the game can get. Thanks to puzzlezaddict for the help. Since installing the most recent February 2026 update for The Sims 4, the game has completely lost the ability to save progress. Gameplay appears normal while playing, but every time the game is closed and reopened, all progress is reset to a state from before the update. This occurs consistently and makes the game effectively unplayable. The problem started immediately after updating and has persisted without interruption. Before the February 2026 patch, saving worked correctly. The timing strongly suggests a direct connection between the update and the loss of save functionality rather than random file corruption. Extensive troubleshooting has already been performed following EA standard support guidance. All mods and custom content were fully removed and the game was tested in a completely vanilla state, yet the issue remained. Cache files, including localthumbcache and all cache folders, were deleted with no change. A full clean reinstall was then completed. The entire Sims 4 folder in Documents was removed, the game and all packs were reinstalled, the game was launched to generate a fresh user folder, and both brand new saves and previous saves were tested. In every scenario, the game still cannot save gameplay progress at all. Because the failure occurs on a clean installation with a newly generated user folder and no mods present, local corruption or user configuration issues can be ruled out with high confidence. The behavior matches a save write or persistence failure sometimes associated with Error Code 21 type conditions, where the game appears to function but cannot properly store progress to disk. However, unlike typical isolated save corruption, this failure affects newly created saves as well, which indicates a broader problem potentially introduced by the February 2026 patch. Community reports describing damaged or non persistent saves after the same update further support the likelihood of a patch level regression rather than an individual system fault, although only EA can definitively confirm this. The impact is critical because the core gameplay loop depends on saving progress, and there is currently no workaround despite complete reinstall and clean environment testing. For this reason, investigation by EA is required to determine whether the February 2026 update introduced a defect in save persistence, save file compatibility, or local cloud synchronization behavior. Please advise whether this issue is known, whether the update may have affected save integrity, and whether a fix or workaround is planned. I am available to provide logs, system specifications, or additional testing if needed.3.8KViews13likes23Comments
