Season 29 Split 1 Summary
Since Split 1 is almost over, I'll send in my thoughts. The good points are that they were able to add a new Legend, albeit with some issues, and that Broken Moon has been improved. The only thing I didn't like about Broken Moon was the spaceport. Since what people find offensive about Axle varies from person to person, it's likely that people will find various aspects of this individual problematic. The way to improve the negative feedback regarding this character's tactical and ultimate skills is simple. The solution is to reverse the ultimate skill and tactical skill. Let me explain in more detail. First, let's start with one of the anomalies of Nitrogate. Next, I will list the points I found problematic. I will omit points that I have already mentioned. First, let's explain the initial problem. Due to its nature, Nitro Gate can be used indefinitely, ignoring its cooldown. A similar skill, if I were to give an example here, would be Octane's ultimate skill. You should be aware of this, since you brought up Octane as a point of comparison.However, Octane is an ultimate skill. It's clearly odd that tactical skills and ultimate skills perform at the same level. Next, I will explain the second problem. This tactical skill has an unusually high durability rating. Even after being weakened, its durability remains exceptionally high. Among tactical skills, only shield-type skills have high durability. This is a reasonable setting considering the nature of shields. However, Axle's Nitro Gate is a movement skill and has a unique setting unlike anything seen before. It's easy to imagine why this happened. It's probably because they simply copied Octane's ultimate ability. Understand the difference between ultimate abilities and tactical abilities, and clearly define the concept behind each skill. In conclusion, as mentioned earlier, the solution is to reverse the skills and then adjust them. Make Nitro Gate an ultimate ability. Then, compare its hitbox size to Octane's ultimate ability and adjust its durability accordingly. Let's make Kickstart a tactical skill. And let's set its durability to be the same as other tactical skills besides shields. It should have the same durability as Crypto's drone, around 50, or at most 75. If you set it to 75, you should set a weak point area for Kickstart. Thirdly, I believe there is a problem with the sound. Regarding this, since what is easily audible varies from person to person, it is unclear whether it is objective. This is my understanding based on the current state of the axle. I'm primarily comparing him to Octane as a similar character. The Nitro Gate's movement sound is only the initial startup sound; the sound is too quiet when it comes into contact with an enemy. Even Octane's skills, which are supposed to have no sound effects, are designed to alert the enemy of his approach with sound, so why is Axel's skill so quiet? When using Kickstart and Nitrogate at the same time, the Nitrogate's sound is quiet and, like Kickstart's, flat, so it gets drowned out by the Kickstart's sound. I naturally pick Sheila when facing two or more enemies at close or mid-range, but I have never won a single time. The barrier deployment speed has slowed down, so I just end up dying more often, and it only hinders my movement when I'm using Sheila and an LMG. Why on earth are they nerfing Rampart like this? She is already a character who just keeps dying because she lacks mobility, is slow, and has poor handling. Why does EA's upper management hate Rampart so much? I've been playing the game since around the end of Season 9, and almost instantly fell in love with Rampart as a LEGEND! Been playing her almost nonstop since ever since! May I say for one, hooollyyy I'm so happy with where she is now. Back when she could only place S.H.E.I.L.A, all be it she could place 3 of them at the time, was a NIGHTMARE to try and get a lot of value out of it, but we Ramparts' still managed to pull through to getting it to tip top shape! ONE BARRIER AT A TIME! Something to say before i get into this. I really did take a lot of inspiration when thinking about this rework/change when looking at the recent April Fools Event's that had things like "heavy kickback" where your gun would actively make you fly if you shot enough bullets. i found this especially fun with Rampart as well obviously, "minigun go brrrrr!!!". HERES MY PROPOSISTION!!! (AGAIN, I TRULY THINK THIS COULD BE A WELL PUT TOGETHER THING IF MADE RIGHT!!! I will be putting my changes, Aswell as my reasonings as to why I seek out to change the kits integrity) ANYWAYS!! THE CHANGE I HAVE IN MIND!! (IM WELL AWARE THAT THIS CAN BE BUSTED IF DONE WRONG > I AM NOT A DEV OF ANY GAME AND HAVE NOT DONE BALANCES SO ALL THE NUMBERS I STATE ARE COMPLETELY CHANGABLE AS SEEN FIT > I LOVE RAMPART > BARE WITH ME AND PLEASE JUST HEAR ME OUT) To start off!! take away the place-able toggle for S.H.E.I.L.A, and change it to a select fire. (As to why - The minigun takes a PAINFULLY LONG TIME to actually set up if using it in the placed state. Giving that you: (1) Place the turret, (2) Place a barrier, (3) Get on the Minigun! (4) Aim and Rev Up S.H.E.I.L.A. (5) Once you've FINALY done all of that. FIIIIRRREEEE!!!!!........ aaaaatttt pretty much nothing but a wall. because they already hid. THEN BAM YOUR TOP SHIELD BREAKS, and you get insta tapped by a sniper right after... there goes 90% of your hp because you wanted to use S.H.E.I.L.A on the ground.) - My point is, if you need to go through (STEPS 1-5) JUST to use the feature, and it end up 9/10 being an absolute throw. While on the other hand, just pulling S.H.E.I.L.A out and just firing would have done just as much, if not, more than enough. What is reaaalllyyy the point of it other than just an extra button you can press.. OK. now what to do with the select fire toggle.. Make the select fire, into a JET BOOSTER Fire Mode. This will in return, change S.H.E.I.L.A from (1), going from firing 1 bullet (per bullet), to 3-8 bullets (per bullet). and now making S.H.E.I.L.A act like a jet booster attached to the player! (2) will no longer have long range fire ability, and will be about the size, maybe smaller than Mad Maggie's base kit drill (THIS IS JUST A REFERENCE!!). (3) damage can go up or down, depending on FEEDBACK, but I think it should do more damage, as you can only use it close range, AND IT WILL BE PROVIDING KICKBACK CAUSING YOU TO FLY BACKWARDS!!!!(in return kicking you out of range of the enemy.) (now i know. "OMG THERES NO WAY YOU ARE ABOUT TO PUT VALK PASSIVE ON RAMPART ULT THATS INSAAANNEEE!!!!! YOU'RE GONNA BREAK THE GAAAMMEEEE!!!" LET ME SPEEEAAAKKKK!!!! "GOSH SO LOUD..." For starters. it will be using the ammo of the entire ult, NOT A SECOND AMMO TYPE, Using the car smg as an example. it's not going to be like that. It's all 1 ammo, that being Ramparts ult charge. SECOND, the initial "Thrust to Fly" mechanic would be more toned down from what it would have been in the "April Fools Event's"! S.H.E.I.L.A would REQUIRE the player to shoot a minimum of 20-30 "Fuel to Fly". depending on (1) the fire-rate, (2) the thrust value, and (3), how much "fuel" would be needed to burn; this would not only give a window to shoot her before she takes off, but also in open fields, she COULD get shot out of the sky if aimed at properly.) (LET MEEE COOOOOKKKKKKKK PLEEEAASSSEEEE RESPAWWWWNNNN, EEEEAAAAA!!!!!) NOW ON TO THE THING I KNOW IM GOING TO GET ALOT OF DISCUSSION. SHOULD SHE (S.H.E.I.L.A) GET NERFED. my answer. well, I mean kiiiiinda... but not anything to do with Rampart's main minigun! I actually managed to think of 2 UNIQUE WAYS TO NERF IT IF IT IS INDEED TOO MUCH!!!! NERF/BALANCE Change (IF NEEDED) - Add a overheat system! Overheat - if you shoot more than 60% (changeable number) of the mag it cuts the gun off and you free fall for a period of time. -(this can also cause an animation to play that is uninterruptable, and rampart will need to "cool S.H.E.I.L.A Down!" thus, adding some time where rampart will need to be mindful of how long she is burning, and if she wants to overheat. (THINK MUCH ON THE LINE OF BALISTIC TAC!!!) -(I TRUTHFULLY THINK THIS BALANCE ALONE WOULD BE ENOUGHT TO MAKE IT MANAGEABLE TO FINETUNE TO PERFECTION!!!!) - Add a height limiter! Height limiter - When Rampart goes a little too high, S.H.E.I.L.A will start burning less fuel. However, will also start slowing your thrust a bit; causing your speed to no longer increase. - (This will stop Rampart from just flying "STRAIGHT UP AND AWAAAYY!!!" and will keep her more down to the ground. GRAVITY IS STILL A THING YA KNOW!!) - (on top of this, if rampart was to go too high, and then try to change directions, the thrust would be less, causing her to move a lot slower when trying to make distance, rather than height.) Reduce the minigun ammo to 160 (was 172). (this is literally just here as a precaution if the actual ammo count is the problem as ya know, it very well could be) NOW ONTO THE PROS!! - Well first off, it's obvious, RAMPART GETS MOVEMENT FOR MINIGUNN!!!! - Can use a NEW VARIENT of weapon titled only to HER!! - Rampart will no longer be held captive by the bounds of 0 barriers and stuck in an open field in the middle of 4 teams. (I'm looking at you, outsides of estates...) NOW YOULL BE SHOT BY EVERYONE AS YOU BASIC MANUEVER INTO THE AIR AND DODGE ALL THE BULLETS LIKE A PRO- or die a painful death of getting pelleted by a guy with good r301 aim!! - gives rampart more flexibility in the use of her minigun, making it less of a 1 trick pony! - Pick-rate will go up because new change to her kit. | WHY WOULD YOU NOT WHAT TO TURN YOURSELF INTO A ROCKET, AND THEN BEING ABLE TO ADAM SMASHER SOMEONE INTO ASH WITH THE FLAMES OF THE TURRET!!! LIKE HELLOOOO THIS IS APEXXXX!!! On to the Cons! - I know it may sound strange that she may have cons to this change, kinda sounds like she's just only receiving a buff here???? - S.H.E.I.L.A will be on cooldown a lot more often, due to the fact that players may want to alternatively use S.H.E.I.L.A as a movement option. this in return makes it to where rampart will only have her barriers left to defend, and if not played correctly can be broken in a matter of seconds. (This can also be faced with a barrier nerf if necessary, but I do think the barriers are fine as is. they are literal paper if shot at before fully built!!) - The fuel will require more bullets in order to transfer it into fuel. - Depending on the speed and velocity of which she can fly at, she COULD end up being shot down. (Especially if Rampart is taking off, or you take the idea of the overheat nerf i stated earlier.) - there can absolutely be a way to balance this out to not be as oppressive as people may think. making "shoot the rampart out of the sky" a fun AND FUNNY interaction I think would be perfect for apex. - A thing some people don't know about rampart is that she can mantle boost off her placeable turret, this would end up being removed Aswell. Now for the fun part. TELL ME THIS WOULDNT BE LORE ACCURATE. HOW WOULD RAMPART, The Weapon's Smith who's made The Flatline, a solid gun of control and damage. The Rampage, a gun made to contain the fiery RAGE of a thermite and causing it to blast through doors! HELL MADE THE BLUEPRINTS FOR THE NEMESIS BEFORE IT GOT STOLEN BY BIG SIS, a gun that shoots in 5 round bursts and increases its fire rate the more you shoot! I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST BECAUSE ITS HER PRIDE AND JOY, S.H.E.I.L.A, the beauty that Auto Creates Ammo for herself, RIPS THROUGH DOORS LIKE ITS CHEESE, and can cause people to hide at the sound of her ROOOAAARRR!! Tell me with a straight face she wouldn't look at a rocket from the drop ship. say "ya know, i think i could slap'er on S.H.E.I.L.A and she'll roar like a bueat!" - Probably Rampart.
