Need Room for Rotational Play in Sunset Valley
I realize that not many people play the Sims 3 rotationally. At least, not many people document that type of gameplay online the way they do for the Sims 2, but I'm planning quite a big undertaking in my own personal game. I have added several families (including plans for new businesses / community lots) to Sunset Valley and plan to play them all in rotation Sims 2 style using NRAAS and other mods. However, I need room for the extra families and the expansion of descendants over time, and unfortunately there's no option to add more space via subhoods like there is in Sims 2. All that to say, does anyone have ideas / techniques (probably using create a world to modify the map I guess?) to expand Sunset Valley with more residential lots in a way that feels organic and keeps most of the premade houses intact? P.S. ~ I know it might sound like if I like Sims 2 style rotational play then I would be better off playing that game, but I love so many things about the Sims 3 like the traits, customization, and open world detail, so I feel like I could better tell my sims' stories the way I want in that game, even if it takes some tweaking to get it working the way I need it to.
Twilight Shores ... A Small Base Game World
This world was created just to try if I could finally manage to get EIG in CAW to respond after I installed the TS3 base game from disk and patched to 1.67. When to my utter delight it actually was successful this project started to develop a life of its own 😉 Twilight Shores is a small base game only world with no cc and no store content. All EA rabbit holes (except the Bistro) have been accommodated either in basements or on the surface. There are 19 community lots + 1 car park and 18 fully furnished homes + 3 empty building plots. It's an unpopulated town but game generated sims will move in fairly quickly. I must admit it was fun but quite a challenge to create Twilight Shores with such a limited amount of things to use. Especially the community lots feel a little boring to me ... no hot-tubs, saunas, basketball courts, pool tables, pianos, boats, no professional or barista bars not even a wedding arch and no clutter to spread around the homes 😱 But on the other hand none of the items used will be replaced by odd looking stuff like toilets on the patio if you don't have the jacuzzi in your game 😝 I thoroughly enjoyed being able to use EIG again. It makes such difference for world creators! Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I have been successful in creating a small world that everyone can use and hopefully enjoy. 😄 Here are a few more pictures of lots that I have built for this world: Well done for having made it this far down the page. Coastal Roads - My New Sims 3 World!
The second beta is out. I announced the first one over on my Tumblr. I also made a separate post talking about the pride flag crosswalks I created for the world. This screenshot is of the first version of the world, but for the most part, its very similar to how it looks now. It is missing the lots that CJplays will create, that assuming nothing goes wrong will be included in the final version of the map The map requires every single expansion pack and stuff pack with the exception of Katy Perry Sweet Treats as that is is the only pack I do not own. In addition it uses the following free store objects No Tricks, Just Treats More Halloween Treats More Holiday Presents Weba Yayfoo Modern HDTV by Webbsta Industries Honeycomb Bookshelf ( I'm having trouble finding this one in the store for some reason. Hope its still available ) Let there be Sims! You can download the second version along with the first official saved game file for the world. When the final version is released, the map and the saved game file will be a separate download, but for now you will have to download them together. Please make sure you playtest the map using the saved game file. The current version of Coastal Roads will have to be installed for it to work. Make sure you delete the previous version if you had it installed on your computer I am also creating some extra lots that you will be able to download separately when the final version of the map is released, that use some premium store content. Now that that's over with, here are some additional, more up to date screenshots of what the world currently looks like. Most of the sims in the pictures below are ones that I created, but a few of them are NPC townies. You will need to load the saved game file, in order to encounter them. There will not be any graveyard ghosts in the saved game file, until the final version of the map. So what do you guys think so far? Hey everyoneee, I'm experiencing a problem with my CAW and I really don't know what to do ☹️ It suddenly crashed, and never recovered. Every time I try to run the game, a window is coming up saying: "The Sims 3 Create A World Tool - Beta has crashed! Exception Information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt" I reinstalled the game, I checked with "DxDiag", as I've been advised, but nothing changed. My laptop is actually a gaming one and brand-new, it provides whatever TS3/CAW requires, and it runs everything else pretty good. I'm really disappointed 😭 I've been working on a world for months now - I saved my world's files on my desktop, hoping that I can keep working on it once I fix the problem. I really don't know what else I can do, plus, I don't really understand what the error is and where it is coming from. If anyone could help me, I would really, REALLY, appreciate it! I have downloaded sims 3 on to my external hard drive using the EA app. I have about 9 expansion packs. These all download just fine but when hit the main menu launcher the game doesn't show me the other worlds that the expansion packs come with. Not to mention that if I click on the base game town and go into create a sim, the expansion pack clothes options are showing that they should be there but is just a blank cube where the clothing item should be. As well if i go to create a pet, it'll take me to the option in create a sim but again a blank space. I have tried to connect with EA help and haven't gotten any answers. I have repaired the sims 3, uninstalled reinstalled but it hasn't worked. I had no problem previously running the sims 3 when it was through the origin app. Any advice? I tried again today to reach out to EA but it isn't giving me the option to chat with an advisor.
What I did to make 'Edit in Game' work again
This is not a feedback post. I am posting this here as per puzzlezaddicts suggestion so that it can be moved later, because I had trouble posting this in the Sims 3 forum where it is really meant to be. Thanks for moving it. Before trying the method below:Note that Origin is no longer supported (pointed out by thesims1depot below), and as such using it has the potential to cause security issues. So.. proceed at your own risk... I was hoping this would be a good solution that would help. ------ So yesterday I was once again searching for a solution to see if there was something to make Edit in Game work again.. I've been desperate about that since I was forced to use the EA App.. And I found something again, in a reddit post that linked to a youtube video explaining the process in portuguese (but with english subtitles).. I wrote all about this in ablog post on my blog, so anyway... What I did: 1) Downloading and installing Origin from this link. https://taskinoz.com/origin/ 2) Making sure the EA App is not running. Opening Originwithout logging in. 3) Locating the local.xml file in My Computer/Program Data/Origin (turn on hidden files to see the folder). You may want to save a back up of this file before moving on. 4) Opening local.xml in Notepad to insert the following code (without the vulgar url as suggested in the portuguese youtube video): <Setting value="true" key="MigrationDisable" type="1"/> <Setting key="UpdateURL" value="http://someadress.com" type="10"/> <Setting key="AutoPatchGlobal" value="false" type="1"/> <Setting key="AutoUpdate" value="false" type="1"/> I inserted the code near the bottom of the file, but before the line that read </Settings> 5) Then I logged in to Origin and waited for a while for a notification telling me Sims 3 was added to the library. 6) Clicked Origin in the top left corner and disconnected to go offline. 7) Created a new directory called 'Worlds' in my Documents folder outside the regular Electronic Arts/CAW directory. 8) Opened CAW and the world file I want to edit, and chose Save As to save it in the newly created Worlds folder. Remember to delete the file path and leave only the world name before saving, or you'll just be saving in your regular folder again... 9) Closed CAW and reoponed it again to open the newly saved .world file. 10) Opened it in 'Edit in Game' and was happy that it worked. Also note, if you play the game in any other language than english, this will make your game open in English... but maybe that's a sacrifice worth making... Well, that and I noticed that the lots after saving will when viewed from a distance not load the textures, but instead use the ground texture - which means that the buildings (atleast in my town) now look like grass buildings. Not ideal, but maybe there is some solution to this as well.. (which I do not know).Exporting Worlds from CAW fail
I took a world I'd made several years ago back into CAW to fix some small but annoying flaws. It saved fine, but I get the failure message when I try to export it. This is nothing new, but it's been a long time since I last used CAW, I don't remember exactly how to fix the issue. I remember it has something to do with removing the DDCache and DCBackup folders then putting them back in, but I don't remember what it is that I have to do in between those two steps. Rflong7 you were the one who told me what to do years ago. If you're still active here, I'd appreciate your help once again.
