Re: Discussion Thread - Battlefield Briefing: Welcome to 2042

The fact how they are trying to sell the specialists in this livestream shows, that they dont even understand, why people are playing this series. They learned nothing from the mess with BFV. Hype is gone.

Some interesting tidbits and clarification there. Bit concerned that ammo/health crates seen to be pitted against other gadgets in the equipment slot though, especially if those gadgets add to the fun factor.

Where will health and ammo come from?

  • @Trokey66 Ammo and health are pretty important so someone will need to choose to carry them. It sounds like it will be up to the players. I suppose it could devolve into a fun at all costs mentality.

Another one of my takeaways from this is that this looks to be a very vehicle focused game. With the larger maps, it doesn't seem like infantry will be able to run from point to point as much.  They'll either need to drive or ride in a vehicle to get to where they want to go.

  • If players won't notice how important support and medics are, then you will just have to do it all by yourself. Sounds like this battlefield will screw teamplay.

Cool, because I rather be the team.

I miss the BF2 days playing with AI and having a friend join. PC crashed and burn since then, so got my ears sticking up with AI in the game. Especially the co-op and if a friend can join your solo game it would make the game a must have for me.

To be fair, that sounds like how Battlefield is already.

Everything sounding interesting so far. I look forward to seeing proper gameplay and hope that will come in July. I'd like to know if we can still build stuff like in BF5 and if call-ins are just vehicles or if supply crates will be available too.

  • Someone calls out in BFV for some AA coverage .

Because you're good on AA's , sit down and clear the skies .

Show them that a 'specialist' showed up .

Someone calls out in BF4 for some Laser Painting .

Because you're good at flanking , set up and run out of things to Paint .

Show them that a 'specialist' showed up .

Two examples of legit 'Specialist Jobs Of War' - they need doing , by somebody  - Go For It!

Either one of these rises up as a need two or three times each during a 'normal' round .

    So , lots to do but . . . but . . . we're not talking 'normal' anymore .

We're talking a Doubling Of The Specialists Jobs Fun , maybe even tripled (quadrupled?)

Twice as many Players - way more Vehicles than ever before - way more map to find them in .

So much to do and yet :

If there's too-few 'Specialists' around now , there'll be too-few 'Specialists' around then too ,

    . . . but there'll be enough .

    IF you show up .

    . . .

(probably not real , but a nice vision nonetheless)

Overhead cam follows Robo-Doggy as it gallops over to camped afar sniper and shreds them .

  • @Trokey66 i may not have conveyed myself clearly enough in other posts, but my concerns are exactly what you brought up. Everything else gets lost between classes it seems. Hope I'm wrong.

Do you really think that killing the one thing, that made BF unique, is a good idea? To me, this game seems more like a COD than a Battlefield. Only the huge Maps might make a difference. But the Map Design got worse with every new Part of this Series. In BFV we got huge Maps like Hamada or Al Sundan, where 50% of the map is just filled with nothing.

I am not opposed to the change simply because it used to be done a different way if that change may improve gameplay. While I have certain concerns about the new system, I can also look at it objectively and see the benefits it will bring to gameplay and team play. On the other side of that coin I can also objectively look at the old class system and see where that system was a detriment to gameplay and team play. Battlefield was never the class system and the class system was never what made Battlefield unique.

As for the comparison between CoD and Battlefield; I do not care. I am not emotionally invested in Battlefield or its legacy. It is a toy to entertain me in my free time. It will either be fun to play or it won't be.

More air units I want to see a squadron fight, and no more grenade indicators or sniper scope glare that's for people who don't want to learn some skill or buy a headset and talk like a normal person. REMAKE KUBRA DAM THAT MAP WAS FUN. Unlimited explosives was also fun, making claymore minefields is a YouTube sensation.

  • much like now, you can have 1 say meidic bag, but you dont have to carry the defib, its up to you

  • you have unlimited explosives with a support person running with you, so that wont change

  • I can see how it can be implemented well, but my big problem is that they gave them identities. The Specialist system would have been a lot better if it was a kit you could assign to your custom character.

  • I hope that's still based on the squad leader, it would be annoying If people could spam vehicles.

It's sort of like BF4 where you need utility from other classes to survive very long, if that is the case with enough teammates on your squad it could be very strategic and make the game more challenging so you don't get unbalanced teams where one team has a player with 100 kills and is carrying the game. Without the utility and team effort i don't think it will be possible to carry a team so everyone on the team adds effort which effectively might improve the gaming experience for everyone.

I'm unsure, I really didn't play BF1 or BFV at all, WWI-WWII games are so over done, I've literally just been playing BF4 for the past 7 years now when I wanna play battlefield, 2042 is looking like a bo2 era BF4 and it looks good to me, I just know how the specialists will play or act so I'm a little sketched, how BF1 and V went makes me weary to want to pre-order 2042 though so far it looks the most promising in years I don't know if it could live up to what the old battlefields had

@Noodlesocks This is the most awful PC game ive ever tried. I feel bad for those who spent full boat on it. If i cant get my money back Im going to be really pissed off.
  • @USAF77 its not that bad it just needs more smaller maps and maybe a Tierlist for gamemodes. We have tiers for everything except for gamemodes.
