  • @EA_David i disabled the software and tried again, but to no avail-- i still get the same message trying to open up origin.

  • Is it possible to roll back to previous version of origin if all else fails (other than wait for a new patch)?

  • @EA_David it's no problem! thank you for your suggestions.

which of the downloads do you recommend me downloading, if you don't mind me asking?

i'm not exactly sure which one i should install.

@oopdysoup Sorry, please start with the top 2 of them, 2017 and 2015.

@RealCFZero If an issue was widespread/impactful enough we'd of course patch, but this issue doesn't appear to be affecting huge numbers of people. Obviously we need to help those affected though,so for your next step can you ensure that you have update KB2999226 on your system?

It's a W7 update that has been critical for some other users who experienced this issue.

  • @EA_David i downloaded the 2017 edition and then attempted to download the 2015 but the 2015 download kept coming up with an error saying "no download found". the 2017 update didn't help and i'm still getting the same message.

    Thank you for the info.

@karamarka123 Can I check what Windows you're using? Can you double check to ensure it's up to date?

@oopdysoup Can you check your Windows Update in case there are any optional packages you're missing? If you haven't done so since all this started, a quick system restart may be in order too.

  • @EA_David i did a restart and windows update this morning and i've been restarting after every installment and download i've made, just restarted again for good luck but i seem to be lacking in the luck department today as nothing's changed.

edit: i've figured out that all of my updates that i tried to install this morning failed and now they won't go through. i have no idea what to do and am trying to find a way to get these updates to work.

ive got same problem. windows 7 SP1. antivirdisabled. cant play BF1 ;/

  • ..and i've got the same problem on W7, SP1, after the last update

i've reach the net all the day to fine a solution, but it clearly seemed to be a problem from the new update of Origin for several reasons:

    - the problem is on W7, but also on 8.1

    - after trying to reinstall origin, origin is installing correctly....untill the search of the last version of it...

    - even when you try to aplly the dll manually vie regsrv32, it's not working

    - even with all the versions of C++ (2015 and 2017) it's not working

    any ideas? suggestions?

  • Same problem for me. My fifa was working fine last night (30/08/17) Tried to log in today and the origin auto  update fecked me up. Game wont start .

Why must my windows be up to date in order to play games on origin? Ive had nothing but issues with you guys. Like adding a already existing game, why is it such a process. You guys could really learn a thing or two from steam. Ive never been so disappointed in a gaming platform before. Because of you guys my internet is constantly shaped.

I haven't been able to play the sims 4 in almost 3 months because of this update/run time issue.  SO, even if it's not affecting everyone, obviously it's affecting enough to have a thread about it... I'm sorry, I've been working on how to fix this for months and it's really frustrating.

I have been trying for months to get my game back up and running and still cannot play my Sims 3 or 4. With the amount of money that these games, expansions, and stuff packs cost if this issue can't be resolved perhaps a refund should be offered... I love playing the sims so much I was contemplating purchasing a new PC just to see if that gets me back on my game but I don't want to waste hundreds of dollars and still be unable to play...

Also the issue may be more widespread than you are aware of because some people just don't report issues as they don't feel they will be helped. Myself and 3 of my friends who are having the same issue have never reported it. I'm only saying something now because I was back on googling solutions and came across this thread.

I have tried all of the suggestions on this thead and still am unable to play my game... If I were to purchase a new PC would I still experience this problem?

    @ReeceB01

If the games did run on this machine before then the only reason that it would not run again would be a major hardware defect.

    Everything else should be repairable.

    1. What exactly is happening?
    2. You get the exactly same error message as the one in the first post of this thread?
    3. What did you tried to resolve the error.
    4. Create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that  with the "choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

    1. My game does not load

    2. yes I'm getting the EXACT same error message as the one in the first post of this thread.

    3. I have tried every solution (uninstall, reinstall, updates, install later version of origin) suggested on this thread.

I love the Sims so much that I purchased a new laptop today which will be arriving on Monday.

When it arrives if I am still unable to play EA should SERIOUSLY consider a refund to all players who cannot access their games since you guys feel that the issue isn't widespread enough for you guys to do a patch to solve the problem so that ALL your loyal customers are able play.

    @ReeceB01

This is not a Origin problem by itself.

The "api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll" error appears mostly if certain MS Vc++ runtimes are not installed properly.

Some troubleshooting on your old laptop or at least a fresh installation of Windows would have solved the problem most likely.

Edit: Btw. this is a player help player forum, most people here, including me, that try to help don't work for EA.
