Why does the EA customer service agent need my Ip address and DOB

My login credentials had expired and I was trying to fix them and didn't know my email. The agent asked for my IP address, in addition to my DOB and credit cards used. Is this necessary?

  • Hey @lustinjobo69 in order to verify that you are the account holder our team will ask a number of questions related to the account that only the account owner would know the answers to.

    We take account security very seriously and account verification needs to be passed before our team will discuss the account with you.

    It does seem a little over the top but it is required to verify you’re the account owner.

    They wouldn’t want to give your account to someone pretending to be you, so strict rules are in place.

  • Hi Darko, I am hoping to try and understand this a bit more because we are having issues accessing an EA ID account and have tried going through this process several times. I am unsure how the IP address helps genuinely because the staff member didn't explain what IP address they wanted, just that they wanted one. So how would my PC IP address be of any benefit to them?  How does having it help to access an account?  What if I had created the account on a laptop I no longer have?  I am honestly confused about the request for the IP address.  I am fine with the DOB and phone number etc

    Hi, your live support team was not able to help me.

    I had an old email that I deleted because I swapped everything to my other social media email. Was hoping to unlink the old EA account with that old email from my steam and link the new (since I want to play the new Split Fiction game and A Way Out game), but I had no luck. Tried talking to live support twice and they both said the details for my own account was wrong and no one could transfer me to a supervisor. They said "Only you can help yourself". 
    I also already tried Steam Support, and they advised only EA is able to unlink the Account. 
    Please let me know if there's ANYONE else that can help.
