Have you tried clearing the cache or reinstalled Origin with the latest version via our site? In the top left corner of your Origin client you can set it in Online and Offline mode too, perhaps that's why your friends are showing up as offline.

DICE Teambro same with me but u really dont have solution and u still want play with fren i suggest u create a lobby tournament with fren and invite them to ur party like what am i doing when want play with frens
i thought it's only happen to me..
turns out it's really from the origin... glad that i can fix it just with delete the cache...

I am also having this issue, and I have cleared my cache many times as well as reinstalled Origin and restarted my computer/booted in clean mode. It doesn't appear to be an ISP issue as I can't get my friend's list to show up on the three different private networks I connected to. Ports are open on one of them. I've had sporadic connection to my friends list but when I go to chat with a friend, the service goes down. I have friends who are online with me in person and we can connect to the same games, but neither the game (Battlefront II) nor Origin shows that either of us are online.
Same issue here since today. No changes on my system since months. So maybe EA has destroyed something in the last updates?
Me and my platoon members have the same issue here.
Someone from EA's side broke something
ever since apex s9 update my origin has been broke, it just shows my friends offline 24/7
