Could be many things, if game locate joystick by itself. try unplug it.
many/some games auto select remote controller , and think you want to use that device, once played a shooter with mouse guess how stupid i felt then game wont move and look frozen and could not activate anything. rofl.

not sure if its a game controller ( game pad ) or mouse you want it on.
