Re: Origin downloaded 40gigs of nothing onto my computer?

This doesn't answer why or where the additional 40gb came from, but as far as (hopefully) freeing up the space:

Have you tried using an uninstalling software? There are a number of free programs available online that will do a much more thorough uninstall than most uninstallers/Windows do on their own. I don't really know which are better than others, but I personally use IOBit Uninstaller. Hopefully this will at least locate and clear up the 40gb so someone can pop in and answer things on the technical side for ya.

  • @WolfStink yeah so I could try that but if I have already deleted the game in all the places I could find on my computer, how can I uninstall it using uninstall software, since I can't find the folders containing that 40 gigabytes that has seemingly disappeared.

@Axs8211Sxa4132  Try clearing Origin's cache, which includes removing the cached downloaded game files.

If that doesn't help, just start looking for folders that are ~40 GB larger than they should be.  Open a File Explorer window, set it to display hidden files and folders if it's not already, click This PC in the left panel, then the drive with the extra data on it.  You can right-click on any folder and select Properties to see how large it is.  It shouldn't take too long to find one that's storing more data than you'd expect, and you can start opening subfolders from there.
