I think it is the Advocate Network connection for players-I have the same issue. I have hundreds of hours of play then BAM unable to launch frontier defense. I was able to momentarily get in recently and set up my own network and was playing once again. When I switched from my channel back to the Advocate Network to get faster connections to games I forgot to reset back to my channel and now I am back to the same issue. It is not my computer, it is not my internet, it is your servers refusing connection using the Advocate Network. All articles point to a hack. You need to repair your Advocate Network to allow ALL users access to the game...or get the reputation that you just do not care to support your customers. The choice is yours.
