Map sensitivity doesn't scale with windows pointer speed

Product: Apex Legends
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
AMD or Nvidia Model Number Nvidia 1070 GTX
Enter RAM memory size in GB 16GB DDR3
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? Scarlet_Villain
Please provide your squad mates' gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name if possible.
Which Legend were you playing (if applicable)?
Which Legends were your squad mates using (if applicable)?
Where did the issue occur? In a match
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. Anywhere with the map open
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. Using the map
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? I don't know
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? A bunch before I got my high dpi gaming mouse
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm)
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Little to no impact to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? When mouse dpi is increased, the game cursor speed is faster. This can be countered by dropping the windows pointer speed. However when the map is open, the cursor is still fast. So playing at something like 1600dpi I can use the 3/11 notch in windows pointer speed to make it just as slow as a 400dpi mouse at 6/11 notch, in the game's menus, inventory, and death box menu in game. However when the map is open, the cursor is unaffected by this and is still fast. So it becomes more and more pronounced the higher the mouse dpi.
What should be happening instead? The cursor when you have the map open should scale with the windows pointer speed just like when you have the main menu / options menu / inventory / death box screen. That way a player can have a very high dpi setting on their mouse to move their character extremely fluidly and still be able to use the cursor at a reasonable speed in the map menu
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Use a high dpi setting on your mouse, lower mouse pointer speed in windows and then in-game open map and see how fast the cursor still is, while it's still being a reasonable speed in the main menu, options menu, death box loot menu, inventory.

Just try it out yourself and see

  • Would be nice if this could be fixed, I'd ideally like to increase my DPI so that it is 4x the eDPI of my desktop. It's not a huge deal, just makes clicking waypoints hard. But still, hopefully it's an easy fix.
