Game interprets volume down as 'C'

Product: Apex Legends
Platform:Steam-PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
AMD or Nvidia Model Number G4110020
Enter RAM memory size in GB 16
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? JasonHorkles
Please provide your squad mates' gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name if possible.
Are you using any software with an overlay? Yes
If yes, can you list them here? Steam
If you disable this software, does that have any effect? No
Which Legend were you playing (if applicable)?
Which Legends were your squad mates using (if applicable)?
Where did the issue occur? In a match
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. Shooting Range
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. Pressed volume down
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? I don't know
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? 0
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 09/11/20 07:38 PM MT
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Little to no impact to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? When I press the volume down button on my Razer keyboard (or with my Razer Mouse), the game interprets it as the key 'C' for some reason. This does not happen in any other program.
What should be happening instead? The game shouldn't recognize it as 'C', but whatever the key is to change your volume
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Press the volume down button on your keyboard and see that 'C' is pressed (may only be a Razer thing idk)

Nothing else that I can think of

  • I think it probably is just a synapse thing because it's happened in 1 or 2 other games now, so it must just be a rare case of how the games' controls work

    Hey @JasonHorkles

That's pretty weird. Have you double-checked your profile in the Razer software to make sure there isn't an extra keybind attached to the volume down button?

Hmm, gotcha. Do you have any other input devices connected to your PC at the moment besides your mouse and keyboard? If so, can you try disconnecting all other input devices and see if the same issue still happens? I'm curious if the game is reading inputs from a different device other than your keyboard for some reason.

  • Looks like it may be something with how Synapse and the game work together, because it only happens when Synapse is running. If I close it then the issue goes away. But once again this doesn't happen in any other game

Hmm, gotcha. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Synapse to see if that makes any difference at all?

Gotcha. If it is something you're willing to try at some point can you let me know if it makes any difference at all?

    @JasonHorkles

Thanks for following up and letting me know. Have you tried reaching out to Razer to see if they have any ideas on what might be causing it?
