Having the same problem. I can hear that the mic is working thanks to the mic monitoring, and from what I can work out its fine in other games, so purely an apex issue. pretty sure it started mid Season 12 when one of the events started and hasnt corrected itself since
Haven't touched the game in months because of this issue. Can't talk to my friends in a competitive BR. Shocked they didn't fix this when the season update came out.

Your response doesn’t make sense. I’m not going to invite random players to a party and expect them to join, plus, Apex is cross-platform…. How do you suggest I chat with cross-platform players? Try again.

How do you do this when im on Xbox series X playing with a friend on PS5?
It's pretty wild that this bug has been around for as long as it has without being fixed.
You can't when your trying to play with someone on a different console
