Hey @vldpingakma,

You are lagging because you haven't picked the best server on the VPN, Let me try to help with this one if you are struggling.

If you are playing on NA servers, then it's best if you choose US East or US Central.

If you are playing on EU servers, then it's best if you choose United Kingdom, France, Germany.

Usually Tokyo servers have high latency due to the distance, if you are playing on NA or EU Servers.

We've tested all this awhile ago, Didn't help.

I ran DNS 1.1.1.1 , 8.8.8.8 ( Failed )
Verified the game files on steam. ( Failed )
Re-installed / Forced to update C++ to the latest version using a command in terminal. ( Failed )
Played few times with the Ram OCs Speed, didn't stop the game from crashing. ( Failed )

    DirectXの再インストールはしましたか?(dxsetupというやつ)

    今回だけじゃなくシーズン13のクラッシュや起動する度にシェーダーコンパイルする問題があったときDirectXの再インストールをしたら治ったことがあったので今回のクラッシュが治ったのはこれじゃないかと思ってます

    もし試してなかったらDirectXの再インストールも試してもらえませんか?

    全ての方法を試していて解決できなかった場合 早く直るよう祈ってます

    Have you reinstalled DirectX? (It's called dxsetup).

    I'm wondering if this is what cured the crash this time, because I had a problem with Season 13 crashing and compiling shaders every time I started up, and reinstalling DirectX cured it.

    Hey guys,

    its me again.

    Now I know why my game was constanstly crashing after intro / or lobby / or ingame when switching monitors between both monitors.

    It was Discord Overlay the whole time.

    Discord overlay disabled = no more crashes.

  • @Y4koooo Hi, I have the overlay disabled but the game crashes, it takes a long time to fix something crashes

    @Y4koooo The game will crash again, we've tried all those suggestions, disabling discord overlay, disabling EA Overlay, turning off xbox overlay, etc... nothing helps

    @GlobalShock Happen to me too

    Game always crashing after HORIZON HEIRLOOM EVENT.

    I tried on 3 DIFFERENT PC's, I also tried at Internet Cafe with different specs, game still crashing.

    So, that gave me conclusion the problem is FROM THE APEX ACCOUNT ITSELF.
  • @GlobalShock  have you considered trying a different Apex Account on the same setup and see if the crash happens?


    I want to verify if its the game itself or tied to apex user accounts.

    Hello @LNG_DrDosage ,

    I have attempted using different accounts, yet the game still crashes. It seems illogical that the game would crash if the issue solely pertained to the accounts and then function properly when a VPN is employed.

    I have over 3000 hours on this game. To say I enjoy it is an understatement. This crash has been absolutely detrimental to my gaming experience. My squad and I had real ambitions for ranking up this season, and that has been impossible. Would really appreciate a fix on this.

    Firstly, I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to inquire if there is any positive update regarding this issue. Have you been able to identify the cause behind these crashes yet?

    @GlobalShock Hey mate, the vpn worked. Will test Nord tomorrow as it runs IKEV2 and is a better vpn ping wise from what I’ve heard + I don’t think they have a limit on GB and allow a 30 day free trial
  • @intfield And PIA (better than exitlag) has WireGuard protocols but not ikev2 on the pc version but if WireGuard protocol works then that should be the best vpn to currently use

    Game was fine pre-horizon hierloom patch, now a good number of people getting crashes and we're getting ignored. Time to uninstall boys.

    Based on my understanding, it appears that the problem may be associated with port configurations or potential firewall issues on EA's end, which are causing certain users to experience crashes.

    The issue seems to be specifically related to the ports utilized by different protocols. For instance, IKEv2 employs ports 500 and 4500 using UDP. Additionally, IPSec Tunneling relies on the following ports:

    • Port 4500/UDP frequently serves as NAT traversal.
    • Port 500/UDP is designated for Internet Key Exchange (IKE), and sometimes Port 500/TCP is used for IKE over TCP.

    It is worth noting that IPSec (VPN tunneling) also employs the following ports:

    • Port 50 for Encapsulation Header (ESP)
    • Port 51 for Authentication Header (AH)

    WireGuard, another protocol, utilizes port 51820/UDP as a listening port for WireGuard VPN and may be relevant to the issue at hand.

    Therefore, the problem appears to be linked to these specific ports. It has been observed that when users utilize a VPN with either IKEv2 or WireGuard protocols, the issue is resolved. However, when VPN is not in use, the crashes occur.

    The nature of this bug or issue is puzzling and does not appear to be solely connected to the port-related factors mentioned earlier. It is possible that there is an entirely different underlying cause at play.

    It has now been a week since we received any communication or update from EA regarding this matter.

    We would greatly appreciate any information they can provide about the current status and progress in addressing this bug. Timely updates would help us understand the situation better.

  • I did a small test with a friend. He brought his gaming laptop to my place and he played Apex and sure enough in 30-40 min his game crashed. Whats surprising is that the same laptop doesnt crash at his place even thou we use the same ISP. 

    The only differneces we could think of is that he uses a 5G router while I use fiber and our routers are of different brands. My router is Asus and his router is Oppo 5G.

    Just throwing it out there in case someone can make any sense of whats going on

    Hi all,

    For me it happens yesterday. The significative information I have is: it comes after windows11 update. But it could be a coincidence.

    I have an Asus router and no VPN , I'm on fiber.

    When I change country coonection in apex at the beginning screen I can connect until players count is displayed but after it crash. It can't play at,  I'm really disapointed.

    How to officially open an issue to EA?

    Hey @xXXS3LL1GXXx , I have friends experiencing the same issue, yet they still use windows 10. So it's not a windows update problem.

    This is an official issue, and EA are working to resolve this issue, but it's been awhile now.

    Thank you for your answer. And yes it's not related to windows 11 update neither my routeur or network. I'm thinking it's an account problem.

    I've a got a linked account to EA for apex legends.

    My son has apex too and last week he couldn't play apex , the game was crashing. It's working now and did nothing to solve this. He has a steam account like me.

    Now it's my turn and I'm really sad. I pay for a battlepass and I'm asking how EAwill handle this.

    @EA_Kent  or @EA_Mari , could you tell me what EA will do for this problem and battglepass ?

    EDIT: If I choose another server or another country at the begining, I sometimes succeed to connect.  I randomly succeed to play with GCE2.

    The game is not playable, thus I have already uninstalled it. My computer sometimes crashes.
    My Battlepass is still unfinished. I'm very disappointed. What do you suggest we do at this point?

    Well I suggest we all ask for refund for battlepass or other items purchased

    Well I managed to play 2-3 hours using the VPN solution but the game still crashed after. 

    I have tried all the troubleshooting advice provided, limiting fps, giving administrator privileges to anticheat steam and apex. tried dx12, tried lowering graphics settings, updating drivers, used other gpu, other ram, rolled back to windows 10 to see if it persisted etc. Also tried without any overclock and also tried with overclock.

    Good morning EA & Respawn.

    I would just like to let you know that as a Legend that has been playing since day one with countless hour's in your game I am absolutely disappointed in you.

    The fact that this bug has been in the game for 27 days making the game near unplayable is not acceptable.

    But what is worse for me is the fact that there has been basically zero communication from your side on this bug leaving many players feeling ignored.

    I know that we are basically a drop in the ocean for you but we are still fellow legends of the outlands.

    Hello @DeanSebastian ,

    Well unfortunately all we can do is wait for EA Devs to communicate with us regarding this issue, In the meantime, we have the option to utilize the recommended VPN for uninterrupted gameplay. It's worth noting that the gaming experience is notably enhanced when the application remains stable for a stretch of 2 to 4 hours, compared to the considerably shorter period of 15 minutes.

    I would be content if I could play for 2-4 hours, experience a single crash, and then continue playing for another 3-4 hours.


    @EA_Mari & @EA_Kent,

    It would be great if you guys can provide updates on the progress behind the scenes, keeping the community informed because it's been 28 days... 😞
