Whoever is in charge of F2 doesn't like F2.
Once again, and like every year, after waiting until the end of the season to get an update on drivers and liveries, Codemasters is making the same mistakes or even more.
At this point, I don't understand what is the point of having F2 in the game, when it is a category that they have totally abandoned. It's unplayable if you're a bit exquisite, as I'm trying to play a season with 100% race length and it doesn't make any kind of sense:
- There is no strategy. The game uses the same strategy for every single car, totally contrary to what is seen in reality. There is no type of realism.
- Sprint races are not sprints, the AI changes tires in the first race and compromise the rest of the weekend. Either the tire wear is too high, or the AI has no idea about strategies. I won in Melbourne with a 25-second advantage just because they raced in the feature race with used tires. And what can I say about Saudi Arabia, where a bug made every car use only 2 tyres between the sprint and the feature race.
- Every single race, a "train" of cars forms and they are unable to overtake.
- And not to mention that, unlike the MotoGP games, they are still not able to add F3, being a category that accompanies F1.
- Qualifyings usually end with the same drivers at the top, and the same ones at the bottom (What do they have against Stanek? He's always 20/21/22)
- The damage model is totally outdated, it is not normal to have these standards in almost 2024.
- I still remember the mistakes of the buffed drivers, Markelov in 2020, Deledda in 2021... Last year I didn't even want to check it, and this year it seems that Novalak has taken the prize for the driver who in reality is usually in the mid or low pack, but in the game he's prime Senna (no hate intended to Clem).
I really don't understand why they keep F2. As a child I was taught that, if I wss going to deliver a job poorly done, it was better not to deliver anything. F2 is an example of the reluctance and little love that this company puts into the game, dedicating more and more time, money and resources to game modes that will hardly be played twice (Seriously, who likes to play Braking Point more than 2 times?), or to focus the experience on the online. Codemasters, there are still people who want to enjoy the individual mode and play alone!
Next year Codemasters has a GOLDEN opportunity to reverse the situation, with new F2 cars, and without new circuits in F1 or even new drivers. PLEASE, DEDICATE SOME EFFORTS TO FEEDER SERIES. I'm not asking you to create a perfect model of Isack Hadjar with 4K moles in his face, that's a nice detail, but the important thing is THE GAMEPLAY! I've been years and years dreaming with a real progressive system, F3-F2-F1, and all we get is coaches, weird modes, Braking Point and supercars that cannot even race each other...
Finally, I don't want everything to be criticism, I'm really enjoying the handling mode change this year, but the mistakes make me not want to continue playing with F2 cars. You have managed to make boring a category that is characterized by being much more entertaining than F1, and anyone with a minimum of criticism knows that F2 was used to sell in F1 2019, but now it seems that you drag it around like a weight that you cannot get rid of, mainly because you know that people would complain if you get rid of this category. As a regular buyer of the game since 2009, I am very disappointed, and I feel I should say so.
