Re: Slightly Mad Studios will bring tyre flex to f1?

Wouldn't hold my breath, pal. If Codies are indeed cooking up a real next gen upgrade of this franchise, that's when we'll get to see what sort new meaty, substantial features they have in store.

SMS had way more features to offer though. Like their dynamic weather and time of day systems, the wildly divisive puddles, and physics. I'm not sure if that tyre flex is just visual fluff or of the contact points are following the texture animation indeed, but even so... Nah.

This franchise is in a glacial, iterative state. Their focus is on monetizing their features, not on expanding gameplay like this.

@mariohomoh yeah thanks. That makes sense.

Maybe going subscription based game as a service, f1 could continue to improve and grow endlessly. Like iRacing or WoW.

@ivun3 I'm all for getting our money's worth out of these games. If game as a service – GaaS is the way to go, so be it. I'm in!

Yeah for some reason this game feels very compatible with a subscription based model.

    5 to 10 dollars a month

20 bucks for a game with safety car included.

    Or maybe not.

It kind of almost is a GaaS, if you have been buying it every year.

On one hand a sub model would make the revenue more predictable for the devs and MIGHT encourage more consistent investment and evolution.

On the other, questions about whether you could continue to play “as is” at the point you stopped paying would need to be addressed. If you “own” a physical yearly copy that’s less of a question.

A monthly might at least allow us to signal more immediate disatisfaction but yearly might not give much leverage.

I subscribe to the Adobe suite of products which is fine enough as I’ve been keeping them current, but if I stop the sub, then my ability to edit those files is pretty much gone
