Re: NHL 25 ADD THESE FEATURES!

Hi there, @D1SCOFEVER

Thanks for all the feedback. Regarding cancelling the shot animation, can you give me some more details on this? It's pretty uncommon that I have a shot go off that I wasn't intending. This was a much bigger issue in previous games, but changes were made with 24 to make this a lot less likely. How frequently is this happening to you?

@EA_Aljo I think as far as cancelling shot animations, they mean when you go to hit a rebound but it ricochets into a different direction. As you go to skate towards it, the game remembered you were trying to shoot and as soon as you pick the puck up it shoots a backhand shovel shot from behind the net.

For me, cancelling shots would be more along the lines of faking slapshots into short range passes. Currently the slap pass has to be very far distance away for the player to pick up and cannot be corralled within an offensive zone pass. You can also try the one touch pass which sometimes makes the animation but it seems to be random or at least very situational. This is something often used in the NHL within the powerplay to fake a shot and pass it back door or back to the point for a One timer. It would be nice to see a slap pass that you don't only have the option of redirecting, but one that could be passed to another player for the finish.

That's what I thought about canceling shot animations. In 24, I've rarely had an issue with it. It was very annoying in previous games though. Regardless, I'll pass on your feedback.

I also use one touch passes very frequently. Although, I prefer how they worked in previous games. I like the new slap pass-ish version of them, but obviously, these need to be aimed very well. I've also had them accidentally go off when I don't intend them to. I'd love to see this improved, but it's very possibly more an issue with me.

For slap passes in general, I agree it would be good to have one that didn't always result in a redirect.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • It doesn’t happen frequently but often when a player is behind the net and moves the right analog stick up it just goes into a shooting animation and there’s no way to cancel it. So if you accidentally trigger the right analog stick upwards there’s no way to cancel a shot just the same way you can cancel a pass. That’s basically all it needs and that will solve the problem…

That alone is just a small fix … besides gameplay improvements, what’s most importantly needed in NHL 25 and future titles is a major innovative presentation overhaul and/or innovative broadcast package with realistic highlights and cut scenes. Realistic intros and goal celebrations. Improving the fighting animations with refs breaking up fights. Arena atmospheres that come to life. Better commentary. Throw hats instead of fish, bears, aliens or whatever it is now… add zambonis…. etc etc etc …Make this game feel more like a hockey simulator or if you’re watching a hockey game on TV… the community would love to see a change in this …

Yes. Hitting up on the stick initiates a shot. That's intended. With how quickly it would happen in that situation, even if there were a way to cancel a shot, I don't think you could do that fast enough to avoid it. Unless you're talking about queuing up a one timer. It would be great to have that even though it's far less of an issue than it was in the past.

    Thanks for all the feedback!

  • I’ve played a lot of WOC games and it has happened on a few occasions where it goes into an auto shot animation and have had time to cancel a shot but unfortunately there’s no option to  do so…

I know it doesn’t happen frequently but it does happen on some occasions…

I just hope we get to see an innovative presentation rehaul and/or new broadcast package …

Thanks again and look forward to NHL 25
