Re: Make a new mmo game based on swords of shadow
@Straatford87 looks a lot like Jade Empire, but with some chinese mythical creatures thrown in. So...even if not a MMO, maybe a Jade Empire 2?! I can imagine how it would look in our days, on the Frostbite engine (hint: gorgeous).
Jade Empire spawned a few MMO games, that took the idea of a martial arts RPG and brought it in the MMO environment (Blade and Soul, Age of Wushu, Jade Dynasty, ASTA Online, Swordsman are just a few that i've seen). So, EA has this beautiful IP that is practically begging for a new entry in the series (SP or MMO, though my guess is that a SP would be far more successful, as the MMO market has plenty of offers)
Jade Empire was and still is a unique RPG, due to its setting and the fact that is the only martial arts RPG out there. The only other really unique RPG due to setting and gameplay that i can name is Alpha Protocol, which is the only spy RPG ever made. Sadly, none of them ever had a sequel. Everyone is making high fantasy RPG's or post-apocalyptic RPG's, and, while many of those are entertaining, they lack that something that made from JE and AP something of a cult RPG's. I hope that i will live long enough to see a new game set in the Jade Empire universe or in the AP universe.
There is a certain charm in a different setting and seeing a game that would use the martial arts in its combat. Having a really good story, like JE had, is not only a simple bouns. It adds tremendously to its value. Memorable companions, epic fights, some really fun mini-games (not frustrating, but actually fun), a decent world economy and rewarding exploration with some unique items.
Damn...now i am tempted to replay Jade Empire😳
