\ (backwards slash) as a key binding doesn't stay permanently bound

Where did the issue occur? In the lobby (waiting area before the match)
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. Settings menu
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. Trying to bind \ as a key.

How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? 1
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm)
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Little to no impact to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? Every time you leave and reopen Apex Legends binding any command to \ will be forgotten. After repeated exiting and restarting of the game \ will be unable to be bound as a key completely. The only way to fix this is a whole restart of my computer.
What should be happening instead? \ should stay permanently bound as a key and it should always be able to be bound regardlesss of exiting/restarting the game.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1) Bind \ as a key to any command in the settings menu. 2) Open and close the game to find it's no longer bound as a key. 3) Open and close the game multiple times to find \ will no longer be allowed to be bound as key at all.

\ (forward slash) isn't permanently remember as a key binding, furthermore after multiple restarts of the game you're unable to bind it as a key at all. Very annoying, as I have holster weapon bound to this key.

    +1 I use \ for inventory and have to set it every time I log into the game

    Do we have any solution for this yet ? Basically i use a UK ( iso) layout keyboard and i cannot bind the \ symbol at all in my keybinds. This issue exists since day 1 of the game's launc date. I had to remap keys using keyboard software to do so but this is not productive as i need to un map to use everything else on my computer. Please someone at EA see this

    Can’t say for certain it is what is happening, but the \ character is typically used as an escape character in many programming languages. As such, the first one in a String or other data type (JSON, etc.) is parsed over, because the language thinks it’s instructions, not data.

    Potential Workaround: What you could try doing, for the time being, is to create an alternate keyboard layout in the Os. This will let you tell the computer to interpret the keyboard in another language, which would cause “\” to output some other symbol. You would then switch to that keyboard layout when playing apex.

    Note that this might remove your ability to use the text chat, since your input will be different. Optimally, you would want to find or create a custom layout pattern that would only change the “\” character and leave everything else in English UTF.

    I also have \ bind as my inventory and it is annoying to rebind it when it lets me but it is even more annoying when i either forget to bind it and start a game or when it refuses to let me bind it altogether

    I've seen this flagged a while ago and I suspect it's not likely to be changed at this stage. CrazyEyedOldMan's workaround may help for those who are dedicated to using the key.
