Adds English US keyboard to Windows.

yeah it's soooo annoying
the only way to get rid of it is to go to language options and actually ADD ENG US and remove it again
this needs to be fixed...i dont wanna add and remove languages EVERY TIME i play the game

I also have this problem i have been in contact with Windows support that tells me unless software is doing this i have some system error that's casing this but since it started with Apex they believe there is the problem.

I'm from Sweden and ENG(usa) and Swe keyboard are very different first off we have åäö but the layout is totally different so when a game start to change this auto and keyboard language changes in miid game all my key binds is *.

The weird thing is there is only Swedish installed in language even after the quick ENG icon appears in activity field, i have only Swedish installed i have to add ENG(usa) and then remove it several times a day atm.

It's really annoying and needs to be fixed asap or i have no choice but to remove the bad software casing this..

i found my problem: there is an shortcut with left shift and left alt to change the language. I use both in game for running (shift) and put the weapon away (alt) ... so yeah, no bug. I did it by myself. But its still right, that apex adds the english keyboard to the game in the first place and I cant use the ISO keyboard layout buttons in the game.

This is an ongoing problem, though this bug report has had little attention it is an issue for every player that does not use a US keyboard layout,  sadly this has not been addressed in the battle pass update just released.

have the same issue and fixed it as following.

I used batch script which adds and removes the US Keyboard while starting the Game.

so just start the game with this script and you will not have US language, you can do a shortcut to your desktop.

so what you need ist the folowing files, maybe create a folder somewhere near to the game e.g. and create thos file there:

AddKeyboardLanguage.xml

with folowing contenct:

Very clever and appreciated thank you, however I will not be marking this as the solution as the developers should be fixing this within the game itself instead.

If they do so I also suspect it would resolve my problem with binds to the UK \ key between shift and z being forgotten by the game between reloads or alt-tab regularly.

I've become aware of a worse problem from this,   Left-alt + shift is the default key for changing language in windows, if you happen to use these keys to play and don't normally have a US keyboard then you're changing your keyboard language repeatedly during the game, this finally explains why some of my binds didn't always work.

Additionally on  win10 1903 due for release in about a months time, every time it is triggered it puts a large overlay on the right side of the game showing the change, this is pretty unplayable, the only advantage was it gave away the issue I note in the paragraph above.

When you're aware of it the fix for the change and the overlay is to disable this shortcut key in the language bar options, but you shouldn't have to do this, it's one game forcing you to change an otherwise useful windows feature because it's changing the windows keyboard layout, something I've never seen a game do before in decades of gaming.

Unfortunately 7 months in and this issue still has not been addressed or even acknowledged by the developers.

I do not use EN-US layout at all, but starting the game adds it to my language layout menu no matter what. The only semi-permament solution i have found so far has been disabling this layout via Windows registry (which gets reverted with every Windows update, hence the "semi" part)

This is such a silly oversight from the devs, yet it is causing unnecessary frustration after every Apex session for the players.

The problem is still not solved. It's really annoying.
