This is copy paste with from my dialogue with ea support.
Hello! I have a question about algs rules, I am from Korea, and my two teammates from Russia (Far East part of it, they have comfortable ping only at Japanese servers). We was playing one of algs tournaments before, because rules was different
And now we can't even play scrims, I will resend our dialogue with ANC adnimistratior, which provides Scrims in APAC North.
I checked ALGS rules, as I can see, they was changed.
For each Online Tournament, Teams are required to: 1. have all Competitors physically participate from an eligible country for the Region which the Team is registered; and
2. include at least one ⚽ Competitor on a Team, not the Substitute Player, that is a resident of an eligible country for the Region in which the Team is registered.
Before there was only second part od the rule. Sorry for your time. But it still weird, that players from Far East Russia, which have ~50 ping at JP server, same as ping from Korea with same -50 ping.
And the ANC administration answer:
I remember the rules were like what you said before. I am pretty sure they have changed it recently. I understand your frustration but as the official rules say the players must physically participate from a country listed in each region. We really cannot do much about it. I am so sorry about it
EA support answer:
