    Both will have the same core EA account, and due to this, they won't work for cross-play, our system will see them as they same account, despite one being linked to a Microsoft account.

yup I had the same problem because I have a EA account that has two apex's accounts, 

one is Xbox and the other one is ps4 but when I was on my ps4 account and tried to add my other account 

it didn't work. I tried about more than 10 times and it still didn't work but when I added other people it worked perfectly.
