Can you switch to a wired connection or is your router too far away?

In the case of being on a wireless connection, this wouldn't be a bug. As a test, can you move your PC close enough to the router to use a wire?
If you have to stay on wireless, try changing the wireless channel your PC is on. That would be done in the router settings. Another thing to check is to make sure you're using a 5G connection instead of 2.4.

I'm getting this bug on Xbox One X, and my friend is getting the same issue on Xbox Series S (so both gens). I've tried going through all the suggestions from this threat to no avail. And considering we're both getting the issue on different systems and in different areas (I'm in NC and he's in FL), I think it's a server issue. My ping will randomly skyrocket from 20-40ms to 1400+ms and it causes us to lag out of ranked games with no option to rejoin, just negative RP and a matchmaking penalty.
- 4 years ago@YFNxxxSINxxx I usually just shut the game when the bug occurs then when I load it back up it rejoins me in the same match if I'm fast enough. However bug normally still occurs usually takes about 3 - 4 restarts (sometimes just 1 if you're lucky) then it will work normal. However ofc by then a team would've killed you so idk if this is much help but it's what I do on my PS4, my friend does it on his PS5 too.
- 4 years ago@EA_Aljo Also a new bug has occurred where on the lobby screen my character animations freeze and I can ready up but won't be able to find a match.
Also another bug where when I load into the game during character selection screen it will freeze and that's when I know I need to restart. Sometimes it will freeze when it says "this is your champion" then there's a black screen completely frozen and again I'd have to restart the whole game. Doesn't always work if I restart though and ofc randoms don't know what's going on w me so they land hot drop and I die - EA_Aljo4 years ago

Hey there, @YFNxxxSINxxx
Are you playing on a wired or wireless connection?
That's interesting you're using 2 routers. Can you tell me why that's necessary? My concern is that may somehow be contributing to this.
I've tried both a wired and wireless connection with the same results.
I've also noticed that in the games I've played since commenting on here, that when I'm able to stand still and ride it out without being kicked out, the nearby fighting stops until the lag dissapates, which leads me to believe the entire lobby is experiencing the same thing.

If you do play on a wireless connection, make sure it's 5G. Otherwise, you should always be wired. Also, try clearing your alternate MAC address with these steps:
Go to your Xbox Settings
Go to "Network", then "Advanced Network Settings"
Click on "Alternate MAC Address", and then click "Clear"Let me know what happens. Thanks!

I've already tried that and it didn't help. I've gone through this entire thread and tried suggestions before I left a comment, and before that I googled my way through about an hour worth of troubleshooting. Thats why I'm trying to let you know that it's absolutely not a problem on my end, it's a bug with the servers. If it were an issue on my end, my friend wouldn't have been experiencing the exact same thing at the exact same time. It's similar to when DDOSsing was common on Xbox, the entire server lags, and nobody can move or do anything without risking their game crashing.

Have you tried alternate DNS settings yet? If not, follow the steps here. If you don't see a difference, try the Google DNS servers. Those are: Primary alt number 8.8.8.8 - Secondary alt number 8.8.4.4.
We're not aware of any issues currently so if you want to go through some troubleshooting, let me know. It's also possible this is hardware related or an issue with your ISP.

I'm not trying to be rude, but is the bug report forum not to make you aware of bugs? I (and I'm sure others) don't appreciate the dismissive attitude toward a bug that massively disrupts gameplay. If it's an issue on my end, why is my friend that I'm in an xbox chat with getting the exact same bug at the same time? Why is it that our Xbox party chat has no hiccups while the game is frozen? Why has 7 out of the 12 people I've played with since then also had it happen to them? Maybe start investigating it.

Is your friend in the same region as you? It's possible this is a regional or ISP issue. I'm not trying to be dismissive, but when the vast majority of people are playing without this issue, we can't identify it as a bug. If that happens, we'll make an announcement.

I have this exact same issue. I am in the UK, and about 2 games out of 10 this happens. I spawn in the game, and it’s just very jittery and totally unplayable. In order to fix this ( which doesn’t always work) I have to restart apex multiple times. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I play on a wired connection on a ps4, and my internet download and upload speeds are 500 mbps, so I know definitely it’s not an internet issue. I’ve never experienced any issues with any other games or anything on the internet. This happens just with Apex. Also it’s not an uncommon issue, as I know a lot of people who experience this in the game, and have met multiple people in Apex who’ve told me about it too. I, too have tried every single fix I could come across on the support page and the internet, and nothing seems to fix this issue. All the suggestions on the previous replies, I’ve tried. Nothing seems to fix this issue, so I’ve resorted to coming on here in hopes that maybe the apex team can finally have a look at the problem and fix it, because I’ve honestly done every thing possible from my end, and this problem doesn’t seem to be fixed
- 4 years ago@YFNxxxSINxxx I know using a VPN fixes this issue as my friends have tried and I've seen other forums say this.
But I too don't understand why Apex/EA are not taking this seriously as its an extremely frustrating bug that doesn't allow the game to work - 4 years ago
Thanks! I'll give that a shot when I boot up again. Literally just trying to play through it so I can get where I want to be rank wise. But out of the 5 games so far, 3 of them have crashed and 2 have had major lag.
We're in different areas. I live in NC, one friend is in FL, one friend is in Canada, and my UK friend just crashed in a match 5 min ago. The reason you guys aren't hearing much about it is probably because the game is broken, so casual players are going to simply switch games. I wouldn't be surprised if you guys see a massive profits dip after the ALGS store is finished with how nonchalant EA has been about gamebreaking bugs.

We definitely take connection quality seriously, but we also don't control the internet world-wide. When we see the majority of people playing without issue, it doesn't point to a problem with our servers, but we're always monitoring them. I definitely wouldn't recommend a VPN though. That often makes things worse.
Have you tried using both routers? If you're wired, it doesn't matter if one is for upstairs and one is for downstairs. You should log into your router and make sure QoS (Quality of Service) is enabled with your console prioritized.
We'll absolutely keep watching for issues that are causing disconnects and lag. Without going through troubleshooting though, we can't rule out anything with your connection that could be causing this.
I've already gone through troubleshooting. I googled the problem and switched settings/changed servers. When that didn't work, I came to the bug report thread, found this thread, scrolled through and looked at what you recommended other people do, and I tried that as well. It didn't work. I've already troubleshooted, you just don't want to take what I'm saying seriously. Maybe try actually booting up the game and playing some matches yourself to see there is a problem.

If you want to tell me what steps you've already tried, I can see if there's anything you left out. I'd also need to know if you're on a wired or wireless connection.

Go back through this entire thread, read all the troubleshooting steps you've advised. Those plus things like resetting router, resetting xbox, redownloading Apex, are what I've tried. I also already told you that I've tried it on both wired and wireless connections. However, Jmeyels just put up a video today on YouTube, and about halfway through, he talks about this issue. Seems like a good chunk of the community is experiencing it. They called it collecting Exodia because it makes all the red icons appear in the top right corner of the screen. He also said Respawn was already aware of the issue. So either you're blaming the issue on the people who report it, or you got left out of the memo that this actually an issue. Either way, it needs to be fixed.

We're not aware of any server issue currently so best to take the content in that video with a grain of salt. As always, we'll keep monitoring for any problems on our end.

Yeah, I'll definitely make sure to take it with a grain of salt after personally experiencing the exact same issue alongside my friends. Get real.
