it doesn't help, i tried it already, my game files are good. This happens to tons of people, just watch any streamer for a couple hours and you will see it happening multiple times, a team walks up just behind you climbing and you hear nothing because apex audio engine is absolutely broken. many times it happens during fights and you could argue that it's the fighting sounds that "hide" the steps and climbing sounds, although I believe it's a very weak argument because I should always be able to hear steps of someone close to me or climbing up to me. But it has happened also in situation of almost complete silence that a team suddenly is just behind you after using a zipline and no sound was ever produced.
I repeat, it happens to me, it happens to my friends, it happens to streamers. we see it over and over, and it would be great if you guys could fix audio in this game once and for all. You can balance the game as much as you want, add perks and all the cool things, but if a team can be literally climbing in front of you without sound, or with a sound that can't be heard unless there's total complete silence, then what is it all for?...
One way you could address the issue is first of all by fixing the fact that sometimes a sound is completly absent even in moments of silence, and then you could adjust frequencies and volume of sounds that are played but too low volume or that struggle to get through the fighting sounds in moments of chaos. Hire a mixing engineer for this, they do it with music all the times, they can fix your steps and climbing sounds too
This isn't about our broken(?) game files, it is about your broken dev team who breaks whole lines of properly working code every single update and making the game unplayable. I literally cant hear shield recharges(my own) at this point, sound appears and dissapears after 0.1s of playing, zipline sounds are 50/50 and many other sounds are absent. There could be a huge gibraltar sneaking behind you and you won't hear it. Peacekeeper charge is also absent(you get slapped in the face cause you didn't know he charged). Maybe spend more budget on audio design before making new skins please?
exactly this as you described it, it's crazy that they don't do anything to address the problem, it's so obvious, people running behind me and no sound whatsoever and they still think it's all good let's invest money on the sims 5 instead of getting apex out of this never ending beta
