What happens when the bug occurs? One, more obviously a bug, Bang smoke suddenly turns black depending on the angle you look at it from, making it significantly better at concealing targets within it. Two, the smoke, and Caustic's gas by extension, don't actually conceal anything from within the smoke as they used to. If you're standing in the smoke, you can see out of it quite a bit, and people can *very* easily see your silhouette.
What should be happening instead? Smoke should be visually consistent, and you probably shouldn't be able to see the silhouettes of entities within it.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Put a player inside Bangalore smoke or Caustic gas in the live game environment.
I've looked at this smoke on every level of the Effects setting and can confirm that it makes no visual difference. It still looks like this in any case. Unfortunately I don't have Caustic personally so I wasn't able to test his gas out myself, but I understand that these are the same particle systems so the same should apply to him.
On some level, I understand if this level of concealment is intentional (beyond the black smoke bug) for Bangalore, because she can just put smokes between herself and an enemy to get a bit of use from them, but in the case of Caustic, it invalidates the one thing he still had going for him, his passive. It doesn't matter that he can see through his smoke if everyone else can do so as well, and that's what has made him a nonexistent character, not his more intentional nerf.
