Easy anti cheat (EAC) freezes my entire PC when I launch Apex

Problem description:
When I start apex legends or rust (another EAC title I downloaded to test) every program on the PC freezes within a few seconds in a cascading manner as I click on them and cannot recover, I can only move the mouse around eventually and have to force a restart holding down the power button. The crash occurs when the smaller EAC (easy anti cheat) window runs before the real program launches almost instanlty after the loading bar on that window is full. I am certain it is EAC that crashes the computer as it happens in only EAC games and if I say no on the windows prompt asking if I permit the program to run I have no issue.

As there is no BSOD and all logging software freezes I cannot create any error logs.

What I have tried:
I have so far tried running malwarebytes anti rootkit, prime95 for 30 mins showing stability, ddu nvidia full driver reinstall,
turning off all third party services or programs (including asus led services and lghub as I read somewhere they caused issues),
restarting pc, removing launch options and settings, reinstalling/redownloading the games and EAC,
verifiying the game installs, ran windwos memory tester, ran different cpu & gpu stability tests, removed my OC & turned of my XMP profile.
windows repair commands 2x (DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow)
I have also tried moving the game from steam to origin that did not help either.

All of these steps have either not shown any issue or not helped at all. 

As the entire PC freezes I cannot record any type of codes or program dumps, procmon does not show anything after the initial issue.

Other misc information:
I have an i7-6850k, 32 Gb of 3200 Mhz ram (now at 2133 with xmp off) and an asus ROG gtx 1080. My motherboard is an asus x99-e with bios version 1801 

The game has worked for a long time for me but recently without any change that I am aware of stopped working

Do you have any additional steps or ideas on how to troubleshoot this? Or a fix?

    I have the exact same issue - I cannot do anything after I try to launch the game and it freezes on the Easy Anti-Cheat startup. Everything freezes and I have to do a hard reset on the PC. I've done all the same steps as you and I'm out of ideas. Anyone have a fix or work around for this??

    Additional attempts that did not work:

    -fixing firewall rules / turning off firewall,

    -deleting temp files in windows and appdata directories. 

    -creating a new origin account and starting the game from there

    Don't bother with any other troubleshooting steps. It's an EAC issue that's affecting a shitton of people(Epic's yet to acknowledge it though) and there are no permanent fixes yet.

    One thing that might somewhat help is moving the game to your C: drive (same SSD/HDD as your windows installation). I'm able to get BF 2042 run with this trick but every 2-3 launches, it corrupts my game profile and crashes my entire PC.

    Try some troubleshooting from the official EAC website:

    https://www.easy.ac/en-us/support/

    If you cannot fix it there, try reaching out to them with their form for technical support.

    That way, if it is an issue caused by EAC themselves, they'll be made aware so they can start working on it.

    I had to disable my 2tb regular spinning hard drive, EAC is scanning every drive and older drives take forever. I went from running poorly for 10 minutes after opening to less then a minute after disabling my other hard drive in Disk Management. U can right click the drive and set it to Offline. Not sure when they started scanning every file but its real rough for us with large drive capacitys.

    I’m having the same exact issue!! 

    Every time I launch apex, during the anti cheat pop up, my pc will freeze and mute all audio (videos, Spotify, discord). Once my pc unfreezes, my voice in discord becomes extremely delayed.

    In some cases, the game will launch with no issues. However, after playing for a few minutes the game will randomly freeze and mute all audio, creating the same delayed mic in discord. 

    I’ve tried rebooting my entire pc, wiping all my drives, fixing corrupted files, reinstalling anti cheat, buying a brand new gpu, contacting eac support (their site won’t let me send a report btw), uninstalling and reinstalling apex, and praying to my Nessie plushie. Sadly nothing has worked.

    Time to take the bullet and not play any games supported by EAC until they announce that they have fixed the issue, any game that you have currently purchased within the last 24 hours to 7 Days apply for a refund, according to your countries refund policies. I am just uninstalling any game that has the latest EAC software attached.|
    hopefully Game companies will realize.... or not.

    EAC are messing up many games that are using it at the moment and similar reports are being made on many other game forums as well. Its safe to say its EAC and not "you".

    So theres really no point spending hours trying to "fix" this right now unless you dont have better things to do :P
