Is the comment I responded to, as well as those here.
At this point, it does not work with the update either, or with reinstalling the game. EAC service persists to work with all other games and EAC itself sees the link between Apex and the EAC client.
Currently the fact that there is a conflict with the x.509 SSL certificate, it is possible that there is a pretty major network vulnerability with the game and/or service.
There is honestly no way to emphasize how critical this issue could be if it is indeed an issue with the SSL certificate for the game.
Edit with a bit of an update:
I can now start the game sometimes and get to the loading screen and compile shaders, terrains, and textures. But trying to go from there into the lobby returns the same error. This worked 2 times before not working anymore with no discernable pattern as to why. It should be noted that this means there is a way to at least somewhat bypass the anticheat currently.
I have also tried to move over to Origin client, but receive the same SSL certificate error from Origin in trying to download and install that service.

@Q_Spice Hey, unfortunately that link seems to be for another issue, a much more mundane login problem. It seems they were able to get in and play some ranked before the night was through.
@Houtzyboy Thanks for the extra details. And unfortunately if the obvious steps don't fix this, the big step of a WIndows reinstall is often ultimately the way to address this, even though it is an extreme one.
I've looked around and this doesn't seem to be widespread at all, but it would still be good to identify the cause. Searching for the obscure windows setting is searching for a needle in a stack of needles, but AV was sort of skimmed past earlier. Just to discount it, can I check which AV you guys use?
Thanks.- 4 years ago
@EA_DavidCurrently Malwarebytes and Windows Defender
I should add that I also tried downloading Origin which is also having issues.
Currently, Origin's service thinks that my PC is not connected to the internet despite it being so. I used the site below for the download:
https://www.origin.com/usa/en-us/store/download
This is also an issue that I have had before on both this PC and 4 others in different areas on different networks with different AVs. It has resulted in me moving away from that service entirely.
I should also note that every time I access EA's official download, that it downloads 4-6 launchers and both the thin and full client, which is a fairly unusual behavior.
I have been doing a bit more digging, and can confirm that this has been a known issue in the past with both Origin and similar to issues with Apex in particular:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/EA-General-Questions/EA-Origin-website-security-issue/td-p/116904
This is the exact error I am getting from EA's site in trying to download.
While not exactly the same, many similarities are present between both issues. Simply saying "this isn't the exact same error" is not an acceptable response. Many issues in code are compound and can manifest in different ways on different machines. A login error may very well be tied to this if both are involving the same web service handler.
Currently, given how these types of files work and what I have currently tried, I do not believe that this is an issue that can be fixed on my end. All files have been removed and successfully reinstalled numerous times and continue to validate on Steam's side of things as well as EAC's side. EAC is having no issues other than Apex, and the problem persists whether AV is enabled or not.
The SSL certificate is also fine (validated by poking through its metadata and that of my friends whose games are currently working, everything matches perfectly).
I am also now running both ApexR5.exe as an administrator as well as EAC. This now returns a new error with Steam that the launcher is suffering either a hanging or silent crash due to misconfigured source code. I have also tried this with both Windows Defender and my AV completely disabled (which is a completely unacceptable "fix" by the way). To be blunt, you keep coming back to that as an issue despite me having clearly communicated that this has been thoroughly tried with AV completely disabled. It is not the issue.
At this point, the level of troubleshooting is honestly ridiculous as it has gotten to the network level, all files are properly referenced and architecture of files is perfectly fine. I can think of no possible reason why literally everything on my PC is working fine but Apex and Origin services are not that does not involve something being wrong or being done on EA's side of the pipeline seeing as these issues aren't limited to Apex, but seemingly to EA web services as a whole.
I will continue trying on my end, but there is literally nothing left for me to do at this point.
- 4 years ago@Q_Especia Hi, friend. As I have been saying to all the people of EA and Respawn. These mistakes are made by them, so they must re-code and solve the problem.
I also had the same problem months ago with the Origin launcher, until I got tired and stopped using it and switched to Steam, and never a single problem (until yesterday, after updating to Apex Legends Season 13), where the error indicated in the initial post appears.
- 4 years ago@EA_David Are you really talking?
How should we reinstall windows if the problem is due to the installation?
You review from EA and Respawn the certificate or the problem that persists in the game, in the EAC, or in the servers; anywhere...
They cannot abdicate responsibility for fixing a mistake that the developers have made.
Why reinstall windows if the error happened after the season 13 update?
No friends, this is not solved that way. Too bad of him to disassociate himself from the subject in this way.
Besides, there are those who cannot reinstall the ENTIRE operating system because we have configured the computer to work as well, whose configurations would be lost since they are done manually.
I don't think it's right for them to do this!
Let those really responsible for the error look for a solution and not send everyone to reinstall Windows to avoid taking over the problem they generated. - 4 years ago@EA_David Hi David. A full OS install should not be an option to fix a problem that is absolutely Apex Legends. They should look for the error in the update. I got this problem after upgrading to Season 13. Check the EAC dependencies from the old season to the new one. Check Windows and C++ library dependencies. They should look for the solution to this problem since Windows works perfectly.
Many of us cannot format and install windows from scratch since we have made many configurations in the system and we would lose everything. In my case I work with Graphic Design, Music Production and Industrial Design, so it is impossible for me to reinstall the Operating System.
Please provide us with an efficient solution without having to reinstall the OS.
